Position Purpose
Petco is on a journey to transform our business and is looking for team members who will lead us into the future as the leading omnichannel pet health and wellness company.
Scope
We’re looking for a seasoned integrated marketer who has shown they can lead cross-functional marketing teams to develop and execute end-to-end marketing strategies that drive business results. As a Director of Integrated Marketing, you would be responsible for driving awareness, consideration, traffic and conversion for our four Merchandising businesses, including: Consumeables, Supplies, Companion Animal, and Private Label Brands.
The Director of Integrated Marketing for Merchandising will be responsible for:
Marketing Planning: Lead the marketing planning process for four Merchandising businesses (consumeables, supplies, companion animal, owned brands), including: crafting and owning the marketing strategy, integrated marketing plans, and budget. Brand Strategy: For Petco’s suite of private label brands, lead the strategy and development of stand-alone brands, including: portfolio architecture, mission, purpose, value proposition, emotional and rational benefits, values, personality, visual identity and packaging. Strategic Positioning: Using customer data and insights, business performance, and competitive intelligence, lead a team to create differentiated positioning for businesses and offerings, reinforced through messaging, and brought to life via world-class marketing execution. Integrated Execution: Lead the orchestration of enterprise-wide integrated marketing activations in partnership with cross-functional business and marketing leaders. You’ll be accountable for the integrated brief through to the tactical execution and results across all marketing channels. Vendor Co-Marketing: Lead the orchestration of Petco’s co-marketing program, including: significant revenue generation across a large number of vendor partners, annual pitching, planning and reporting, and creative development. Team Management: Responsible for managing, leading and growing a team of 9 partners, including 6 direct reports, as well as managing external agencies.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Education & Experience: A bachelor’s degree and at least ten years experience as a B2C marketing leader, ideally in an integrated marketing role, with a minimum three years experience with vendor co-marketing. A minimum of five years should have served in a supervisory capacity with proven experience leading cross functional teams to a successful outcome.
- Strategy & Execution Combo: Proven ability to lead the integrated marketing process end-to-end, from setting the strategic vision to overseeing flawless execution.
- Creative Acumen: Ability to objectively evaluate creative against a strategic brief and deliver feedback in a way that clearly and effectively sets direction and inspires the team.
- Digital Transformation: Be a catalyst for transforming digital practices within the company by fostering innovation in digital marketing strategy and tactics, audience segmentation and targeting, journey mapping, and optimizing for mobile, social and new technologies.
- Financial Management: Manage media and production budgets, including: securing, forecasting, assigning and reconciling spend by month and quarter.

Additional Responsibilities
- Work Environment: The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards. Minor local travel by automobile to vendors or agencies may be required. Also periodic attendance at appropriate marketing conferences that help to keep you knowledgeable about the latest thinking and technology and to share best practices with other colleagues.
