We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to assist management in addressing the Australian and International tax issues facing a rapidly growing software development group. Your primary role is to keep our global compliance obligations humming along. You will have many tasks to prioritise at any one time and you will play a meaningful role on Atlassian's operational tax team. In this role, you will get to:
- Prepare the corporate income tax returns and supporting schedules for various entities within the group
- Collaborate with external advisers and prepare the quarterly and annual tax provisions and application of SOX controls
- Prepare the Return To Provision entries
- Prepare the tax footnote for the Financial Statements
- Prepare employee benefits tax returns for the global group and collaborate closely with Payroll team for reporting purposes
- Prepare corporate income taxes and FBT tax payments
- Review GL for tax sensitive accounts and flow through adjustments into the provision / tax return
- Supervise various worldwide government initiatives e.g. Federal Budget announcements, EU / OECD and assistance with the preparation of required documents (where relevant)
- Collaborate with other departments to assess the reporting implications of changes in tax laws / accounting standards, ensure compliance with new or amended laws, and coordinate changes to ensure continuous compliance in all areas
- Document and update tax governance requirements including annual tax board report, tax policies
- Assist with tax authority reviews / audits e.g. STAR
- Research corporate tax issues and supervise areas with potential tax exposure
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and calculations as required and supervise inter-company transactions to make sure appropriate documentation exists
- Assist with Research and Development relief claims/deductions in relevant jurisdictions, including assisting with information gathering and preparation of supporting work papers for the relevant claims
- Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- Qualified Accountant (Masters of Taxation and/or CA/CPA)
- Shown experience in tax work experience (commerce and/or chartered practice)
- Strong tax and legal research skills, including the interpretation of tax office rulings and provisions in income tax legislation and compliance
- Strong understanding and application of tax effect accounting principles under IFRS and / or GAAP
- Strong organisational skills
- Effective problem solving, methodical, strong attention to detail, and analytical, with the ability to handle cross-functional projects and collaborate with different individuals and functions across the organisation
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable with working in a fast paced environment
- Technologically savvy including extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
It's great, but not required, that you have:
- Experience in the tech industry
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and AI programs such as Alteryx
- Have experience using tax compliance software such as Thomson Reuters Onesource
