The Curriculum (Your Role): As Seesaw’s Staff Accountant, you will own components of the accounts receivable cycle, bank reconciliation, supporting month end close and payroll (including commissions), and other related ad-hoc projects.
Your Classmates (The Team): You will be a key contributor and a teammate on our finance team, which includes a Director of Finance, Accounting Manager (who will be your manager), a Finance Manager, a Financial Analyst, an Accounts Receivable Associate, and our external accounting firm and bookkeeper.
Subject Matter (Your Responsibilities):
- Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting systems for financial transactions
- Maintaining the general ledger, overseeing the Accounts Receivable
- Reconciling bank, credit card accounts and other cash accounts
- Monitor Accounts Receivable/collections and coordinate collection activities, with support from the team, including calls and emails to customers, and internal escalations as required for problem accounts. Ensure that receivables are collected promptly in a timely manner
- Streamlining AR functions by maintaining/coding applicable customer discounts and supporting communication on discrepancies. Maintain and reconcile accounts arising from AR transactions including Customer Overpayments and Advance Payments and Deferred Revenue
- Supporting team on month-end close procedures
- Maintaining on-time and proper customer invoicing
- Payroll entry and reconciliation
- Daily bank deposits and cash application and transactions
- Perform professional level accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US-GAAP)
- Prepare month end journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with all accounting functions and month end closing process
- Prepare work papers for the annual audit
Prerequisites (The Requirements):
- 2+ years of progressively responsible experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm preferably with exposure to a high-growth SaaS company and Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Google Workplace
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Familiarity with NetSuite will be an asset
- Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with management, customers
- Able to work as a team player
- Open to development of skills and knowledge
