Senior Insight & Innovation Consultant (Quant)

We’re looking for an enthusiastic strategically-minded consultant with a commercial mindset built upon a foundation of quantitative research design to join Mintel’s Consulting team, based in the UK.

Mintel Consulting EMEA is part of Mintel – a global leader in market intelligence and an expert in what consumers want and why.

We help shape the future direction of brands, big and small, through bespoke consumer-led insight and innovation projects. Our analysis is based on rigorous and robust ad-hoc research projects that are likely to leverage our extensive data science capabilities. This work may incorporate Mintel’s existing data and insights that clients can access on subscription.

What are we looking for?

You will be working as a senior member of the EMEA Consulting team, supporting the delivery of bespoke projects for our clients. You will be experienced in primary quantitative consumer research and are comfortable in translating individual client questions and objectives into a tailored approach for every brief. The Senior Consultant is responsible for maximising opportunities and optimising revenue across a portfolio of clients, whilst delivering world-class projects .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interrogate client requests through active listening to reveal the true business critical question
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen
  • Provide a fresh and innovative perspective with your point of view to challenge clients’ thinking
  • Optimise the potential of every single opportunity working closely with the EMEA sales team
  • Preparation and analysis of a range of quantitative research – i.e. a real data nerd!
  • Comfortable working with consultants with qualitative expertise to create a unified story for your client
  • Using insight to create compelling narratives capable of motivating and inspiring senior stakeholders into action
  • Comfortable with a range of outputs including (but not limited to) segmentations, brand and communication strategy, portfolio rationalisation, and innovation development
  • Design and delivery of strategic and creative workshops
  • Supporting the wider team in the development of proposal and pitches, with a focus on providing quantitative methodology and analysis
  • Happy presenting to a variety of audiences – both in terms of size and seniority
  • Work on the delivery of projects, drawing on the wider Consulting team and Mintel Analyst teams
  • Ensure all Mintel Consulting resource tools are kept up to date

It is expected that a Senior Consultant will have:

  • Strong personal gravitas
  • A willingness to express a point of view
  • A distinct lack of ego
  • An insatiable desire to learn and develop
  • A sense of humor
  • Advanced understanding of sampling in quantitative research
  • A knowledge of advanced data analysis including max diff, conjoint, segmentation, factor analysis etc.
  • Questionnaire design experience
  • Passion for and curiosity in brands and innovation
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Creativity, both making connections and in original thinking
  • Strong sense of individual responsibility as well as ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team

Successful Candidates will:

  • Have 4+ years’ work experience within a brand environment, either client or agency side
  • Scope projects, with strong commercial awareness and sound understanding of Mintel competencies
  • Contribute to, fuel inspiration for and ultimately deliver creative thinking workshops
  • Define research, data collection and required analysis with strong experience in primary quantitative research
  • Prepare custom analysis and insight for clients and customise deliverables to fit client needs using original research, a library of pre-published content, and external quantitative and qualitative agencies
  • Be comfortable in providing conclusions and recommendations to clients
  • Be largely self-sufficient in terms of managing workload and deadlines
  • Be a confident presenter, able to present report findings and provide valuable input in discussions to all stakeholder audiences
