Job Description BAE Systems is looking for a Technical Group Leader (TGL) to lead in the area of multi-INT exploitation and multi-modal fusion. We are looking for a strong technology leader to serve in a lead role for research and development in the Video, Image, and Spectral Exploitation (VISX) research group. Responsibilities include leading the VISX group that develops technology and provides solutions for multi-modal, multi-INT sensor exploitation in areas including geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), imagery intelligence (IMINT), measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and open source intelligence (OSINT). The focus of our work is in automatic target recognition (ATR), to include both model based and machine learning techniques. Work also includes sensor data exploitation, data fusion, and signal processing.
This position requires a seasoned veteran with direct technical leadership experience developing cutting edge algorithms and real-time software. Experience in writing and leading proposal efforts and capturing business with DoD and IC customers is required. A demonstrated track record of technical publication is highly preferred. This position will support BAE Systems’ Sensor Processing and Exploitation (SPX) product line with offices in Burlington MA, Durham NC, Merrimack NH, Reston VA, and Arlington VA; position can be based out of any of these offices under BAE Systems’ borderless philosophy.
As a successful candidate, you: (a) will lead teams of 6-12 research, software, and systems engineers that may include members from collaborating universities, other companies, and customer organizations; and (b) will interact directly with customers to participate in design reviews and support integration, testing, and demonstration (some travel will be required). Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are critical to your professional success in this role to support (a) creation and sustainment of lines of research through marketing via direct interaction with customers and proposal writing; and (b) publication of research results in professional, peer-reviewed journals and technical conferences.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Typical Education and Experience
- Degree(s) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field; Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ year of professional research experience ; Master’s Degree with 8+ years of professional experience; Doctorate with 6+ years of professional experience
- 3+ years of research management experience
- Contributes to/participates in professional societies
- Experience as a Leader/Manager of a multi-disciplinary R&D project team
- Record of new business development / capture skills in winning DoD and/or IC R&D business
- Algorithm design, technical development, and new concept development in technologies related to automatic target recognition and multi-modal, multi-INT fusion
- Strong experience with mathematical modeling tools and languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, etc.)
- Technical leadership experience developing cutting edge algorithms and real-time software
- Strong and confident communication/presentation skills
- Must hold an active a Top Secret clearance
