Scientist, Lipid Nanoparticle Technology (LNP)

Job Description

Regeneron's R&D Chemistry group is looking for a Scientist, Liquid Nanoparticle Development. In this role, you contribute to the advancement of new platform technologies, specifically, the innovation and optimization of the synthesis of lipids, lipid conjugates, and small molecules. You will also improve the purification, construction of these components into vessels to carry cargo, as well the purification and characterization of these sophisticated LNPs and individual components. In this role you will be given the opportunity to take part in independent research aimed at crafting vessels that can be advised to specific tissues.
A Typical Day in the Role of Scientist, LNP Might Look Like:

•Contribute to scientific efforts sought at the synthesis, purification, characterization, and formulation of diverse sophisticated bioconjugates that target LNPs to tissues.
•Execute the preparation and formulation of bioconjugates by applying established methodologies as well as developing new techniques.
•Apply and develop methods to characterize and analyze complex bioconjugates in the context of cargo containing LNPs.
•Prioritize and perform work independently, be self-motivated and capable of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
•Participation in CRO activities, including design and project coordination.

This role requires a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry or equivalent with demonstrated ability in a discovery setting. Experience includes modern organic synthesis, especially as applied to orthogonal bioconjugation chemistry, chromatography and analytical techniques including HPLC, MS, LC/MS and NMR preferred. Hands on experience with conjugation, purification and characterization of conjugates, and experience using analytical techniques/instruments, including chromatographic techniques such as HIC (Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography) and RP (Reverse Phase) and normal phase chromatography, SEC, SDS-PAGE, UV‐Vis, mass spectroscopy, and NMR a plus. Experience in the synthesis and evaluation of nucleic acid conjugates, antibody or peptide conjugates, and attachment chemistries is a plus. Expertise in purification and analytical techniques for LNPs a plus. Effective written and verbal communication skills with scientists in multiple disciplines.
Experience with the following additional skills and experience is a plus:

•Solid‐phase oligonucleotide synthesis
•On or off bead oligo functional group conversion chemistries
•Oligonucleotide/oligonucleoside chemistry
•Large scale LNP conjugation and characterization to support pilot toxicology studies
