Who We Are Looking For:

The Associate Managing Editor for DTES will contribute to the editorial strategy and be responsible for the timely production of high-quality editorial output for DTES to create the pre-eminent Spanish language consumer technology media brand in the United States. The Associate Managing Editor will have a deep knowledge of the consumer technology space and the most popular companies and brands in the space.

The Associate Managing Editor will ensure that there is the right balance of informative articles, long form feature articles and coverage of key consumer events and news across the site to meet audience growth, engagement and commercial objectives. This role will manage the work of all DTES Editors and Freelancers to ensure a balanced and informative content strategy. The Associate Managing Editor will work pro-actively with the SEO, Audience Development and Commercial teams to ensure data driven development and growth of DTES. This position reports to the Sr. Managing Editor, Affinity Sites & DTES.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage a team of editors and freelancers for DTES
  • Manage day-to-day operations of editorial resources and external freelancers.
  • Maintain the front-page MEM
  • Manage freelance budget to maximize content, guide editors in spending.
  • Initiate and lead monthly editorial meetings and fortnightly growth meetings with the Managing Editor for Affinity Sites & DTES.
  • Create and grow strategies for a DTES newsletter and social channels.
  • Website traffic analysis: gather the data, tease out actionable information, report results to the editorial staff and freelancers.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of excellence are met in reporting and editing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You Have:

  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Minimum of three years leading team of writers (experience managing freelance writers preferred)
  • Deep understanding of SEO and tactics for increasing growth and engagement of websites.
  • College degree in journalism or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience managing one or more sites.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; able to write in a style that is interesting to the core audience.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate and provide feedback effectively to others.
  • Experience working with web content management systems (WordPress preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable working with HTML.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Photography/videography skills a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of the current tech landscape is a necessity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines
