At the Hurricane Mesa Test Facility, we are testing the next generation of Ejection Seats for the U.S. and International Military Aircraft. At the RTX facility we support the engineering team with the customer requirements, test setup, test activation, equipment receiving/tracking/shipping, material usage & management.

Position Description:

  • Identify and inventory piece parts found around site, part of a large effort to organize and simplify the testing we do.
  • Issue, manage CAD/PAD levels for all active programs, requires consistent communication with Test Engineers in COS
  • GFE/CFE/AFE (Government Furnished Equip./Customer Furnished Equip./Alt. Furnished Equip.) control; majority of this falls under AFE, or flight gear for manikin dressing which is provided by the customer or USAF.
  • Requirement for this is to know at all times where the items are and to give ownership to customers when they pull items for testing use
  • Instrumentation; work directly with Jim Laudie (Instrumentation Lead at HMTF) to ensure instrumentation is in calibration. Also entails sending items to Calibration sites monthly.
  • DCMA comes on site once a quarter to inspect safety and pyro storage. Responsible for incorporating changes and ensuring everything looks nice when they come.
  • Facility maintenance, Building. Cleaning (as part of the onsite team),
  • Everything that comes on site and leaves site passes through my hands
  • Requires coordination with multiple people in COS, Engineers and Shipping to ensure arrival of assets on time for testing.
  • Complicated by the fact that dual programs are testing here with many different tests ran in parallel. Keeping programs as well as individual tests organized is the ideal in this role.
  • Assist in setting up cameras for Theodolight video. Covers contractual requirement to provide the customer with flight path of seat and manikin.
  • Test Track cleaning/ Maintenance, ensures sleds do not hit any debris on the track.
    • Sled and pusher sleds are placed on the track and pinned using a crane, help with that
    • Track lubing- diesel and oil cover entire track to reduce friction
    • HVAR Loadout, anywhere from 20 to 120 rocket motors are used dependent upon speed and weight of sled. Takes half a day to 2 days to complete

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
