About the Team At Fanatics, our Business Affairs & Legal team plays an integral role into why we are the #1 licensed sports, omni-channel retailer. This team is known for negotiating and drafting long-term, exclusive deals with professional sports teams, universities, event promoters, and athletes. They are trusted advisors in counseling our business teams with day-to-day matters as well as key strategic initiatives. This division is critical to the success of the overall company strategy and our mission to become the #1 Fan Brand in the world.
Overview A standalone subsidiary of Fanatics, Inc., Fanatics Licensing Management (FLM) serves a varied role for its clients, ranging from providing traditional trademark licensing agency services (e.g., brokering deals with third party licensees, overseeing brand protection and brand management, etc.) to managing the sublicensing rights as a primary licensee on behalf of professional sports properties and college clients. The portfolio currently includes: ● College: University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, University of Miami, University of Notre Dame, University of Oregon and the University of Wisconsin; and ● Professional Properties: NFL Players Association, Major League Soccer, Hockey Canada, Big 3 The licensed consumer products business is comprised of hundreds of licensees leveraging licensor-owned intellectual property to manufacture and deliver apparel and hard goods to the retail marketplace to serve consumer demand. Consumer dynamics demand constant speed and innovation in order to preserve relevancy. However, this quest for speed cannot compromise the obligations and responsibilities required of licensees.
Role Description The Licensing Coordinator serves a supporting role in the areas of royalty reporting, contract management and trademark enforcement.
Responsibilities:
- Be a part of the Fanatics Licensing Management team to create a positive and productive partner experience for existing and prospective licensees.
- Master FLM’s proprietary licensee management database to conduct all business transactions between FLM, its clients, and licensees.
- Work with Licensing Operations team to support a variety of prioritized projects including processing renewals, contract terminations/expirations, notifications to licensees, contract compliance, hot market programs, system updates, policy change notifications, and other operations-related projects.
- Review digital artwork submissions from select licensees for contract compliance and trademark compliance, and then process to FLM’s clients for final decision making.
- Work with Licensing Operations team to prepare education materials and training information to properly educate licensees on the benefits, requirements and workings of the system.
- Review and process royalty reports submitted by licensees. Track and monitor receipt of reports, and address inaccurate reports through written and verbal communication with licensees.
- Serve as a resource internally and externally for licensees including understanding their respective businesses, answering a range of questions and anticipating their business needs.
- Work with licensees to ensure completion of licensing requirements, including royalty reporting, contract execution, insurance submission, labor code requirements, authorized manufacturer agreements and digital artwork submissions.
- Support FLM’s legal efforts in addressing trademark-related matters including marketplace enforcement actions and contract compliance matters including frequent issuance of standard take-down notices to web sites and cease and desist notifications.
- Accurately record and update trademark actions and contractual obligations within FLM’s database system to ensure timely visibility for teammates and FLM clients.
- Assist with monitoring the Official Gazette and identify trademark applications that may conflict with the existing trademark ownership rights of each of FLM’s clients.
- Contribute to the daily business processes, and make recommendations to improve collaboration within FLM’s licensing team.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
