At Ancestry DNA we work with massive data sets using multiple technologies and the team is looking for a Data Engineer. You will work directly with Supply Chain Analytics Manager in projects involving analytics for Operations, support data projects related to Ancestry DNA Health product and other data-sets. You will focus on DNA Operation's ETL tool Halo and work with the Data Delivery team which serves cross platform DNA Data. It will directly report to the Enterprise Data Management organization and be part of the greater data and growth Strategy at Ancestry.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead Data Warehousing projects with the Data Delivery Team and support DNA Operations Data
- Scale the warehouse, strategize growth, best practices and refine processes to meet Ancestry's data growth.
- Understand Business, Operations and Analytics requirements for data from many sources
- Develop, deploy, and support real-time automated data streams from numerous sources into the Data lake and data warehouse.
- Develop and implement data auditing strategies and processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Design Data Requirements and work with DNA Operations to provide access to data
- Implement technical solutions to maintain ETL processes and troubleshoot extraction failures
- Be able to work with ambiguous and undefined requirements
Who you are:
- BS degree in Computer Science, IS or related field.
- 3+ years of experience managing Data warehouse and working with Data Platform
- Proficiency in database technologies MySQL (Aurora), MSSQL, S3, Redshift or equivalent
- Experience with Power BI tool solutions (Halo experience will be given priority)
- Meet delivery dates on assigned projects and tasks (this is a solo, Individual Contributor role)
- Have a passion for data and helping the business turn data into information and action
- Expert with data modeling, handling massive data sets and sources (MS SQL Server, mySQL, REST API's)
- Experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Nifi, Pentaho)
- Experience with Cubes
- Worked within the Agile methodology
- Experience with Kafka, Java, Spark, Python
