Description: The PFS Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of certain assigned work units w/in the PFS Department.
PFS has work units that currently perform the following: identification & primacy determination of third-party billing opportunities (Medicare, Other Insurance Coverage (OIC), Worker's Compensation, & Third-Party Liability situations); the billing of charges to these entities; the collection of accounts receivable from these entities; &, the application of payments from these entities to the KP Mid-Atlantic patient accounting system.
These processes also include the billing of all member & non-member self-pay balances; the collection of these balances; &, the application of these payments to the KP Mid-Atlantic patient accounting system.
Essential Functions: - Directly supervises the staff in the assigned work units. Is responsible for hiring & all disciplinary actions up to & including termination of subordinates in accordance w/ EEO/AA, union contracts, & personnel policies.
- Assists the PFS Manager w/ developing policies & procedures as necessary. Ensures that all staff adheres to the policies & procedures once implemented.
- Ensures that all PFS Department employees reach all performance metric targets & departmental production standards of quantity & quality as set forth by the PFS Director.
- Assists the PFS Manager w/ ensuring that the department's operations & business practices are conducted in a manner that is compliant w/ regulatory requirements for all applicable jurisdictions.
- Ensures employees interacting w/ members are conducting themselves in a courteous & professional manner.
- Ensures that all employee follow the time collection process, including the KRONOS automated time & attendance systems for a designated Region.
- Assists in special projects & performs additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in one of the various PFS Coordinator positions, or an equivalent level of experience & expertise; or a minimum of 8 years of experience in one of the various PFS Specialist positions, w/ demonstrated ability to succeed w/ increasing levels of responsibility required.
- A minimum of 1 year of supervisory/management experience or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a lead role required.
- Associate's degree or additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree required.
- Familiarity w/ health insurance laws & regulations required.
- Proficiency in the use of basic software & computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail & internet navigation) required.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience w/ HealthConnect & KRONOS systems preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Familiarity w/ claims processing preferred.
- Working knowledge of Medicare regulations & guidelines preferred.
