Your Opportunity
The Data Governance Senior Manager position will drive the daily data governance activities for Schwab’s Operational Services Trading platforms in support of internal and external channels. These platforms include Schwab’s balances, positions, transactions, trading technology (TAPSS), security reference data (SRDG), and market data platforms. This is a specialized individual contributor role that reports to the Data Governance Team Manager.
What you are good at
The Data Governance Senior Manager will contribute to the end-to-end data quality, accuracy, consistency and completeness across our platforms. This position includes active engagement with leaders and subject matter experts to ensure the implementation and compliance of data governance is within firm data governance standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Support the data governance efforts to build a robust data inventory complete with associated metadata and data lineage, capture changes to the use and consumption of data, and establish monitoring of data quality
- Collaborate with the business and technical subject matter experts to implement data controls in alignment with the firm’s data risk management framework
- Create and compile business metadata in compliance with firm data governance standards for new and existing data elements; working with key business personnel to establish appropriate change management processes and identify data quality metrics
- Facilitate and participate in the local data governance forum meetings, ensuring content is available in the governance applications
- Support the growth of a new data governance structure for Schwab’s trading data platforms by leveraging best practices for capturing metadata and educating personnel on the governance applications, processes and procedures
- Support the onboarding of numerous downstream applications into TAPSS and SRDG governance for the trading data platforms
- Build effective working relationships with business and technical partners to support DG efforts, coordinate and collaborate with business and technical partners to establish relevant metadata and data lineage, and leverage their support to integrate our data governance efforts
What you have
- Bachelor's degree required
- Knowledge of reference data, trading data, and portfolio accounting data, preferred
- 2+ years of experience in data governance and/or data management, preferred
- 2+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferred
- Security licenses including Series 7, preferred
- Strong analytic skills and the ability to effectively transform financial concepts into robust business metadata that can be easily understood by others
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with multiple business partners across all levels of the organization
