Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Capital Markets (BCM) is a single center of excellence across public and private market sourcing for the firm and co-investment and financing for our alternatives business. It is a holistic, comprehensive investment platform that provides solutions across the capital stack. BCM helps to deploy public and private capital in active portfolios within BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) (approximately $239bn of assets) and Portfolio Management Group (PMG) (approximately $3.1T of assets).

BAI offers access to a spectrum of alternative investments including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure.

PMG is a single organization with seven portfolio management businesses: Fundamental Fixed Income, Municipals and FIG Fixed Income, Index Fixed Income and LDI, Fundamental Equities, Systematic Investments, Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions and Global Lending, Liquidity and Private Investors.

Role Overview:

BlackRock is seeking a Private Sourcing Associate. The associate, based in New York, will be responsible for supporting the team across deal sourcing and origination, financing execution, coverage of key sourcing channels, data analytics, preparing of reporting / presentations and various ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining detailed deal opportunity and financing pipelines in addition to various markets databases
  • Prepare presentations and reporting for internal and external use
  • Assist senior team members with complex deals and independently lead straight forward opportunities, including initial diligence of investment opportunities and coordination across investment teams
  • Coordinate financing activities with each investment team, review potential transactions and assist in execution of financing transactions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of banks, sponsor, corporate client, and internal constituents to assist in originating transactions
  • Involvement in various Alternatives initiatives, internal management meetings and investment committees

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in capital markets, banking, investments or other related field, with a history of outstanding achievements; prior Alternatives / Credit experience a plus
  • Genuine passion for the financial markets and a self-determined drive to achieve superior performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear messages and the acumen to lead discussions with investments teams, senior executives and external counterparties
  • Strong quantitative and technical skills, including knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and fluency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
