Product Management Overview

Our Product Managers have the mindset to build. They bear overall responsibility for product success, starting with creation of a compelling vision and culminating with delivery of a disruptive product to market. Working in close collaboration with design, engineering, growth, and venture architecture, they drive the risk orientated, lean and agile development process, ensuring the seamless delivery of a product vision that fits the needs of our Corporate Partners and their stakeholders.

As a Product Director, what you’ll get to do:

  • Lead venture teams to innovate, validate, incubate, and commercialise disruptive solutions, in the role of an expert advisor to, or general manager of, the venture team.
  • Act as the voice of the customer in the definition of innovative digital solutions, steering the venture team and concept to problem-solution fit and product-market fit, and prioritising for ongoing venture success.
  • Provide insights into product, technology and market trends and feed these into venture proposals and venture team execution as an expert.
  • Develop and present new venture proposals, operating plans, and venture resource plans in support of business development activities
  • Act as a primary point of contact in Corporate Partner and Client engagements, developing the relationship, discovering opportunities, and developing these through to commercial proposition.
  • Develop and refine our commercial offerings in adapting to changes in market and/or client needs.
  • Promote Digital Ventures in strategic regions / industries / communities / technologies.
  • Be a champion of the Digital Ventures culture, practices, and behaviours, constantly seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Co-ordinate the recruitment and development of talent in the product management cohort and co-ordinate the staffing of venture teams.
  • Coach Product Managers through their personal-professional career development, growth and impact feedback, and personal growth plans
  • Define, develop, and lead Product Management cohort development initiatives, and represent and promote the cohort at executive levels in Digital Ventures and the wider BCG organisation
  • Collaborate with and contribute to key organisational development initiatives with Partners, Managing Directors, and Directors from other disciplines (i.e. engineering, design, growth)

What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years of product management experience across large scale, early stage, and high growth scaleup ventures, having successfully and repeatedly taken products from idea to commercialisation
  • Several years’ experience leading Product teams, setting the vision and best practices for the Product Management discipline
  • Mastery of Product Management core competencies and behaviours as they relate to building early-stage high growth ventures using risk orientated, lean and agile methods, defining MVPs, validating hypothesis, and setting out build and growth tactics
  • Exceptional work ethic and professionalism working with Corporate Partners, Clients, Senior Partners, and colleagues in developing venture opportunities, building high-performance teams, and successfully delivering venture impact.
  • Expert understanding of early-stage finance (i.e., venture financing, deal terms, etc) as it relates to venture needs, and proven operator experience in structure and setup to ensure the overall operational excellence of the venture.
  • Proven deep domain expertise in business model innovation and taking digital products to market that will win
  • Broad understanding of regulatory and legal constraints, and the ability to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • You project credibility and influence through persuasive written and verbal communication.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually demanding, and service-oriented environment that respects diversity of thought and promotes behaviours aligned to its values
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in a technical discipline (computer science, electrical engineering)
  • An MBA or other advanced degree (preferred)
