Job Description

Job Description

Our IT team operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. We collaborate internationally to deliver the services and solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation.

An imperative around driving efficient, reusable, and easy to consume technology solutions is a bedrock of our company's IT and Digital Strategy. The Enterprise Architecture capability across the company needs to pivot and expand its service offerings and delivery results this year. The CTO Organization’s EA team has been tasked to guide this transformation. The EA team’s mission of “providing strategic technology decisions linked to investments that achieve business outcomes” sets the direction and focus for the architecture capability that will underpin the company’s Digital Strategy.

This position will direct the overall EA function and EA services that support the company’s core infrastructure and operations capabilities embedded in the Technology, Infrastructure, Operations & Experience (TIO&E) central IT function. The position, in partnership with the TIO&E Technology Leadership team, is responsible for delivering business, systems and technology architecture decisions that drive investments within TIO&E. The position will be a member of the TIO&E Leadership team.

The general remit of this role is twofold. The first is to be the Enterprise Systems Architect for the TIO&E function. This aspect will include providing general EA services to the major disciplines that make up the function. Services would include road mapping of product lines and products, investment and business case creation and general forward-looking governance of products in the portfolio. This aspect will require intense interactions with TIO&E sub-function leaders (with a particular focus on Global End User Computing Services), as well with other Enterprise Architects on the central EA team and deployed Solution Architects within TIO&E.

The second aspect includes being the global Technical Architect for the Operations architecture capability stack. Operations architecture includes capabilities defined by frameworks such as ITIL and IT Service Management (ITSM) (including event capture, event correlation, alerting, performance & availability management, deployment, etc.). This aspect will require tight interaction with the Global Operations Management function of TIO&E to jointly create roadmaps and strategies that drive the products, capabilities, and services in this space.

This leader will have an opportunity to work on a truly enterprise team that engages with leaders across all divisions and will be directly involved in helping enable our CIO’s vision of a more top-down, agile, and business outcomes-focused IT organization. The position will work in tandem with other Technical, Systems and Solutions architects across the company.

A partial list of responsibilities includes the following:

  • Use agile, value-centric, business outcomes-oriented, and total cost of ownership-based standards to guide EA decision making.
  • Contribute to the development of a documented business architecture in collaboration with the TIO&E technology team.
  • Direct the end-to-end development of systems and technology blueprints and roadmaps.
  • Establish strong working relationships with business and technology leaders to align investment planning, portfolio planning and execution with these roadmaps and architectures.
  • Defines metrics for the measuring of technology maturity, health, and business value and plays an active role in delivering these measures.
  • Align with the TIO&E annual deliverables/objectives and performance goals.
  • Promote a common approach to the delivery of TIO&E deliverables and drive the notion of reusable architecture assets.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization on end user computing technologies (such as Microsoft 365, physical devices, virtual desktop infrastructure) and IT Service Management practices
  • Support the creation of a common and professionally managed set of EA practices, which includes architecture models, architecture governance processes, architecture methods and templates, architecture communities and training, design patterns, and much more.
  • Effectively coordinate with both waterfall and agile project teams to evolve the technical landscape toward the desired end state.
  • Apply risk-based decision making to complex problems and consult with relevant subject matter advisors as needed to inform the decision.
  • Prepare and deliver executive level briefings and communicate complex topics effectively to diverse executive audiences.
  • Facilitate EA Governance within TIO&E with accountability and authority for new platform investment choices.
