About Role
:
Information Protection Engineering (IPE) strategy is to provide a common and reusable suite of authentication and encryption services and methodologies to internal partners and external Wells Fargo customers. IPE is part of Wells Fargo’s Information and Cyber Security (ICS) organization. The Evaluation and Certification and Appliance/HSM Management & Engineering Team within IPE has an Information Security Engineer position available. The selected candidate will join a diverse, motivated, and experienced team responsible for providing end to end management of all HSMs for multiple data protection/encryption solutions. This position provides Tier 3 support and engineering for multiple data protection technologies deployed across Wells Fargo networks, applications, public key infrastructure and authentication services. Performs access, configuration change and health monitoring of appliances/HSMs which may include reviewing logs, writing scripts for automation of tasks and taking other technical actions required to keep Infrastructure healthy and highly available. This role will also participate in the research, analysis, design, testing and implementation of complex data protection technologies alongside other teams within our organization. The position includes periodic 24/7 on-call support rotation and evening/shift work will be required. The person selected for this position will work with partner Engineering Teams on identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities and may also conduct risk assessments of Infrastructure to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and adherence to best practices. May provide technical guidance to less experienced staff. Given the nature of the encryption technologies, the team environment is very fast paced and requires the ability to critically think through solutions as an individual and to work effectively with the team as well.
Responsibilities:
- Follow the Patching Life Cycle and Change Management processes and identify, assess, schedule, and communicate patches prior to applying via the change management systems.
- Manage hardware certificates for PKI Certificate Authority by creating, renewing, and loading CSR’s based upon the features/ functionality required for the infrastructure
- Participate in designing and troubleshooting infrastructure including networking, load balancing and capacity planning.
- Capable of juggling many tasks and reprioritize daily depending upon the constant change of the status of project deliverables and production infrastructure.
- Work a swing shift to better align to U.S. business hours to participate in critical meetings and ability to work with vendors and other LOB partners.
- Coordinate with the vendor support teams to ensure issues impacting Wells Fargo are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Capable of creating technical/engineering documentation
- Participates in interactions with technical, engineering, and non-technical partners across the Enterprise for technologies listed above
Market Skills and Certifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum 7+ years of Information Technology experience.
- 5 years of information security applications and systems experience
- 5 years of systems engineering and/or support experience with Linux/UNIX servers
- 1+ years of engineering knowledge & experience with encryption/security Appliance devices such as: Vormetric DSM, Thales CipherTrust or Oracle Key Manager
- 3 years of experience delivering and supporting large, highly available enterprise-level infrastructure
- 3 years of experience in networking and infrastructure architecture design
- 2 years of experience of implementing infrastructure upgrades, security patches, or version upgrades
- 2 years of Linux/UNIX CLI or scripting experience
- Proven written and verbal communication skills with both Business/Management and Technical/Engineering resources
- Must have Intermediate/advanced systems engineering experience in medium/large Enterprise environments.
- Ability to perform 24/7 on-call and shift work after business hours as assigned
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology or related streams.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of cryptography and key management
- Knowledge and understanding of technology server: file encryption technology, encryption key management and information security policies
- Knowledge and experience with PKI/Certificate Authority or creating/installing digital certificates
- Knowledge of systems engineering and/or support experience with Windows servers
- Knowledge of Windows scripting experience
- Knowledge and understanding of leveraging and administering digital certificates, and keys for authentication and encryption
- Knowledge and understanding of Python, Ruby, PowerShell, and Shell scripting
- Knowledge and understanding of Splunk
- Advanced problem solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities
- Must be organized and have rigorous attention to detail
