Commercial Banking provides financial solutions to businesses with annual sales generally in excess of $5 million. Our business lines are Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Middle Market Banking, and Treasury Management & Payment Solutions.

Middle Market Banking

  • Services private and public companies with annual sales of $5 million to $2 billion

The Specialized Industries Healthcare Mid-Corp Portfolio Manager functions as a credit and portfolio manager for an assigned portfolio of customers and loans with a wide range of size and complexity. They will work with senior management to develop appropriate business-level plans and execute accordingly. They actively participate in the processes around loan structuring, negotiating, and completing transactions, and will provide oversight for underwriting and portfolio management. The Portfolio Manager manages loan portfolio quality and coordinates credit reviews and independent risk management. They partner with division portfolio executive and applicable credit team manager(s) around coaching and development of the credit team.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: underwriting, credit, or portfolio management.


Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of mid corporate banking credits, cash flow analysis, and underwriting guidelines
  • Ability to thoroughly analyze credits on an independent basis and communicate findings in a concise manner
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge related to underwriting, identifying key risks, and structuring credits for companies within the Healthcare Industry
  • In-depth understanding of underwriting, structuring, and documenting credits for public and private borrowers with complex capital structures
  • Experience leading credit due diligence processes
  • Experience partnering with debt capital markets team to develop viable financing proposals across multiple debt structuring alternatives

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
