Retirement Business Services (RBS) brings together expertise and resources to help deliver the best trust and custody services for Schwab Retirement Plan Services, independent recordkeepers and investment advisors by offering a broad range of investments, technology, and products to meet the needs of retirement and HSA plan service providers and the participants they serve.

The Systems and Process Optimization Team (SPOT) is a team of Product Owners and Business Analysts responsible for the continuous improvement of RBS’s operational processes, systems functionality, and client/user experiences.

What you are good at


As a Business Systems Analyst in SPOT, you will work with our Product Owners to collaborate with our business partners, clients, and technology teams to ensure that business requirements for new products and enhancements are well-documented and transformed into technology solutions that support business growth and scale.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Translating business needs into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that drive development on our business-to-business client facing website, Schwab Retirement Center (SRC)
  • Assisting Product Owners with identifying and evaluating business opportunities and solution design
  • Interfacing between technology teams, service/support teams, and business units
  • Crafting and maintaining artifacts that support project prioritization and development such as cost benefit analysis, current-state vs future-state workflows, business rules, data-mapping, and wireframe/mock-ups
  • Providing training and support to business partners on processes and application functionality
  • Assist with process improvement based on lessons learned and data analysis
  • Collaborating with team members with assigned projects and joint results.
  • Building and sustaining positive relationships with business units and technology partners

What you have


  • Ability to apply critical thinking, be creative and show initiative in problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for education and sharing knowledge
  • Familiar with Agile and SDLC methodologies.
  • Prior experience with business analyst, product owner, or process engineering responsibilities:
    • Creating artifacts, such as (but not limited to): business cases, process maps, use cases, user stories, requirements documents, test plans, and quality matrices.
    • Helping business units articulate functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Reciprocal mind-set and able to build strong relationships

Preferences

  • Prior financial services experience, particularly in retirement services
  • Prior experience supporting development on a business-to-business client facing website
  • Prior experience with any of the following applications: Confluence, JIRA, Pega, Salesforce, SEI or internal Schwab systems (STAR, SRC, SRT)
  • IIBA Certification
