Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, CS, Interactive Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years industry experience in developing interactive experiences/exhibits with a background in creative technology or interaction design.
  • Experience & proficiency with design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) and technical rapid prototyping skills (HTML/CSS/Javascript, Unity 3D, etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, CS, Interactive Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience testing out/prototyping and developing on new technologies quickly.
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams and working with production/engineering teams and creatives.
  • Familiarity with physical installation and design (scenic design, fabrication, AV design, etc.) and interaction design for digital experiences.
  • Creative problem solver, comfortable with ambiguous situations and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • An online portfolio of work demonstrating independent-thinking, self-initiated project development, and examples of projects that push the boundaries of interaction and interface design.

gTech’s Business and Outsourcing Strategy and Services team (gBOSS) provides consultative services to gTech, the Global Business Organization (GBO), and Google at large, enabling each part of our business by developing innovative, scalable, and compliant solutions that allow gTech to run efficient operations with the best vendor partners at optimal cost while minimizing risk.

Experience Studio is a team of designers, producers, engineers, and business thinkers whose mission is to inspire Google’s customers through the creation of interactive spaces and exhibits. Our job is to design/deliver engaging physical experiences that tell Google’s story, make Google’s magic more apparent, and communicate Google’s ability to grow customers’ businesses.

As a part of the Experience Studio Interactives team, Creative Technologists are hybrid technologists, designers, and producers with a core in technology, experimentation, and prototyping. You have a foundation in technology but one in user-centered design methods. You are comfortable working with internal teams, external vendors, and partners to bring to life these experiences. You will do a little bit of everything to get projects out the door into the world, and are well-versed in translating business objectives, user needs, and technology capabilities into fresh, relevant and engaging interactive experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and discovery with users and partners. Translate findings into actionable intelligence, strategy, and briefs. Drive concept development, experimentation and platform/technology research to create and implement concepts and functional prototypes.
  • Develop in-depth design documents. Partner with external design partners to output design direction, engineering colleagues on product roadmaps and technical design documents for execution and producers on deployment and installation of your work.
  • Manage the direction, pace, output, and overall success of projects and the creative resourcing for individual interactive projects.
  • Inspire and guide creative partners. Manage the outcome, take responsibility, and have a clear point of view at all times.
  • Stay current on Google technologies and product plans, build strong relationships with Google teams to identify opportunities for collaboration.
