Title : Senior Data Engineer

Duties : The Senior Data Engineer (multiple positions open) at Chime Financial, Inc. in San Francisco, California will work on the design, development and operations of large-scale, real-time data systems. Own, optimize and even re-design Chime's data architecture to support next generation products and data initiatives. Support our Software Developers, Database Architects, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers on back-end data initiatives. Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS 'big data' technologies. Modify existing software enabled data infrastructure to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, and improve its performance. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. Participate in key technical and design discussions with Technical Leads to ensure deliverables are completed timely. Confer with cross-functional teams like Platforms Databases Infrastructure Teams, Product Teams and Product Engineering Teams to obtain project information limitations, capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Provide technical leadership to junior engineers. Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements. Design, implement, optimize and operationalize real-time big data analytics systems, including data-pipelines, data warehouses, and enterprise wide data-flows.

Requirements : Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Informatics or directly related field, plus 6 years of software engineering work experience. The 6 years of software engineering work experience must include 5 years of experience with (1) Programming in Python or Java and 2 years of experience with each of the following: (2) Designing data pipelines (3) Managing cloud-based services such as Amazon Web Services (4) Structured Query Language (SQL) (5) Data tools such as Google Big Query, Postgres, or Snowflake Database and (6) Data model standardization.
