Our company is currently seeking a highly motivated and exceptional scientist with a focus on biologics, peptide, and bioconjugate modeling in the Modeling & Informatics group within the Computational and Structural Chemistry department at our South San Francisco site. The successful candidate will join multidisciplinary, highly collaborative discovery teams both locally and across the global company network to invent novel medicines by leveraging medicinal chemistry experience, applying advanced computational techniques, and developing innovative computational methods.

Required Education:

  • Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, or equivalent

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of small molecule drug discovery experience in a biopharma setting
  • Experience with use of modeling in the optimization of small molecules for improved potency, pharmacokinetics, and drug metabolism
  • Experience with at least one of the following modeling software packages: MOE, Schrodinger, OpenEye
  • Experience with Linux and Python scripting
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams
  • Multiple publications and/or external presentations demonstrating creative application of computational approaches to problems of biological interest

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with quantum chemistry calculation software such as Gaussian
  • Experience with use of machine learning for modeling small molecule SAR
  • Experience applying computational methods such as docking, conformational analysis, and homology modeling to problems of biological interest

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary discovery teams to invent new small molecule, peptide, and bioconjugate medicines
  • Applying a variety of informatics and modeling techniques to accelerate the evolution of drug discovery leads to drug candidates
  • Continuing research in areas of molecular modeling relevant to drug discovery, and maintaining an external scientific presence through high-impact publications and presentations
