The IRA and Credit Monitoring and Reporting Operations Group delivers high-quality service to multiple sales channels unique needs within the brokerage firm across multiple sites, domestically and internationally. The team handles various functions specific to Brokerage lending, Margin, and Retirement brokerage accounts. These activities include providing guidance on Retirement accounts, Brokerage lending (PCL), margin and trade extensions.

The IRA & Credit Monitoring and Reporting Business Liaison Consultant will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a strategic program to identify, assess and increase efficiencies across internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. This position will act as the primary subject matter expert for all IRA & Credit Monitoring and Reporting activities across the firm. This critical role will organize, lead and facilitate cross-entity: enterprise-wide initiatives related to both IRA and Brokerage Lending. Strong relationships and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels are essential.

The Business Liaison Consultant 3 within Wells Fargo Advisors' Operations Department will act as the business architect and primary subject matter expert for IRA and Brokerage Lending processes within the Firm. This critical function will be based at WFA's Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis, MO and will successfully organize, lead and facilitate cross-entity; enterprise-wide initiatives encompassing end-to-end analysis, risk assessment and problem solving. This position will interact with Service and Operations leaders, IT, Product, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, Risk and other key partners; act as the key driver of cross-organizational systems enhancements related to IRA and Brokerage Lending. Strong relationship skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization as well as with external vendors and partners are essential to the success of the individual and business continuity.

Additional Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide strategic thought leadership.
  • Provides operational strategic expertise and leadership for projects and initiatives focused on efficiency opportunities. In addition may provide senior-level support for systems security-related issues.
  • Develops testing strategies and methodologies; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; analyzes business and/or systems changes to determine impact; identifies and assesses operational risk issues and assigns risk ratings consistent with established policy standards.
  • Works with management to develop strategic action plans and effectively manage change in an effort to increase efficiencies.
  • Drafts recommendations and reports findings to management to understand productivity.
  • Help manage headcount
  • Coordinates production of periodic operational performance reports for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended strategies.
  • May manage project teams and provide guidance to team members.
  • Additional responsibilities include working closely with management on the maintenance and testing of departmental Policy and Procedures (P&Ps) as well as Supervisory Procedures (S&Ps)
  • Consults with management and business partners on matters of significance regarding strategic approaches, effectiveness of support function, and business performance improvement opportunities for the applicable business functions.

The BLC3 role for Asset Movement and Business Controls plays a primary role in leading transformational efforts, coordinating foundational group financial and headcount related goals, leading cross organization teams on Risk/Control related efforts and driving operational effectiveness efforts related to process optimization and redesign.
Examples of Key Work Efforts include:
Oversee and execute offshore and site location strategies
Lead teams responsible for SHRP issue remediation
Drives group involvement in WIM Transformation efforts such as Available Funds
Manages departmental administrative efforts related to tracking financial budget and efficiency goals


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: business operations, implementation, or strategic planning demonstrated through work or military experience; or 4+ years of legal experience which includes the review, evaluation and response to agency, law firm, or regulatory inquiries

  • Strong Operational Risk knowledge
  • Extensive technology skills including knowledge and understanding of brokerage applications/systems
  • Knowledge of Tableau and other reporting systems.
  • Experience working across different lines of business and leading efforts across multiple departments

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
