PROCESS PLANNER
The Process Planner position is a core support role for Flight Hardware Logistics, ensuring acceptance testing & maintenance instructions, parts, and processes are controlled yet flexible enough to meet hardware transportation timelines. This job involves actively working in the field with the engineers and technicians to optimize shop and transport processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, revise, and maintain planning documents, with clear and accurate process instructions, which conform to design and process specifications
- Prioritize work scope based on scheduled need dates, product availability, and resource capacity
- Apply knowledge of processes and materials including but not limited to operation and maintenance of primary and secondary structural components, electromechanical assembly, machining, welding, and plumbing
- Determine parts availability for upcoming operations based upon the specifications in the work order and develop alternative solutions when part shortages occur
- Work with inventory personnel to reserve the necessary material required in work orders and ensure all parts are delivered to the work site
- Provide status updates on work completion and project health to all interested parties
- Resolve discrepancies arising from incorrect paperwork or other related problems in a timely manner
- Provide input on procedures and develop process improvements to continually improve the business
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience in a planning, supporting, or coordination role with in the manufacturing or aerospace industry
- 1+ years of experience working with mechanical or electro-mechanical processes in a manufacturing or aerospace environment; or 3+ years of experience in fabrication, maintenance or operations planning
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1+ years of experience reading technical drawings and schematics
- 2+ years of experience working with mechanical or electro-mechanical processes or hardware
- Creative and passionate approach to addressing opportunities and challenges, and an enthusiastic, self-motivated, positive can-do attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively
- Willingness to perform other related duties for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Working conditions may be in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
- Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand
- Able to lift heavy objects up to 20 lbs unassisted
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with proper PPE
- Able to respond to emergencies to support priority projects, missions, and launches
- Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility is required
- Able to work in extreme outdoor environments when needed – heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
- Able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
