Description:As a Release Train Engineer (RTE), you will be the servant leader and the chief Scrum Master for the train. The RTE facilitates optimizing the flow of value through the program using various mechanisms, such as the Program Kanban, Inspect & Adapt workshop, PI Planning, and more.
RTE Responsibilities
• Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Solution Train using various tools, such as the Solution Kanbans and other information radiators
• Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
• Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering the preparation of Vision and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings
• Facilitate the PI planning event
• Summarize program PI objectives into Solution PI Objectives (the STE) and publish them for visibility and transparency
• Assist tracking the execution of capabilities (see Metrics)
• Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the value stream sync for Solution Trains
• Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to EPICs/Value Streams, where necessary
• Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
• Help manage risks and dependencies
• Escalate and track impediments Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
• Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering
• Work with Solution Management, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
• Improve the flow of value through value streams using the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps
• Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle
• Report status to Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and support related activities
• Understand and operate within Lean Budgets
• Facilitate Solution Demos
• Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the Solution Train and help them improve
• Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position will be responsible for leading the implementation and management of highly-visible and complex projects for assigned IT Resiliency domain(s) spanning the entire IT organization, which include crisis management, business continuity, application risk/impact assessments, and employee training protocols. This position will also lead resiliency projects at the national IT-level and support the divisions and business units across IT to identify and quantify IT business unit risks, develop cost effective risk reduction solutions, develop business and IT recovery and crisis management plans, and conduct application impact analysis to validate the timely resumption of business operations, services and functions.
