PayPal, Inc. is seeking a Director for its Global Regulatory Relations (“GRR”) program. This Director will provide advice and guidance on regulatory interactions in the United States, Canada and Latin America to local compliance teams, and assist directly with regulatory and examination interactions in the United States. The Director will provide seasoned leadership and judgment, which are material to our business for regulatory engagement. The position will report to the Senior Director of GRR for the Americas.

Responsibilities


• Assist with the management of the global regulatory interactions process and related strategies
• Maintain best practices for supporting global regulatory examination and interaction management
• Manage key relationships with business leadership, and other external stakeholders, including U.S. regulators
• Serve as a credible business partner to executives and other high level internal stakeholders, providing advice and support as needed
• Manage regulatory interactions and examinations and liaise with internal stakeholders and regulators through all phases of the process in the United States

• Provide advice and guidance to international compliance teams in the Americas in connection with regulatory interactions and examinations
• Engage critical stakeholders in problem solving on regulatory issues
• Assist with committee reporting for management distribution
• Execute against the requirements of the global exam program
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Job requirements:

  • Ability to communicate, collaborate and manage relationships with high-level internal and external stakeholders, including regulators
  • Proven track record of effective communication with regulatory agencies
  • Leadership and judgment to analyze, evaluate, develop and effectuate solutions to complex problems
  • Team player with creativity, resourcefulness, a passion for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and interpersonal acumen
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change
  • High energy and a desire to work in a results and team-oriented, rapid growth environment
  • Strong reputation for integrity and ability to balance business partnership with the need to exercise independent judgment and to raise issues in a timely and constructive manner
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to credibly challenge solutions and ensure timely escalation of issues and concerns as and when appropriate
  • Ability to identify dependencies and leverage multiple sources of information simultaneously
  • Knowledge of the financial services compliance and / or regulatory environment is required
  • Solid critical and analytical thinking, decision making and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer knowledge; excellent MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required (juris doctor preferred), with 10+ years compliance experience in the financial services industry, and regulatory inquiry and examination management experience required
