Consumer & Small Business Banking (CSSB)

Consumer and Small Business Banking (CSBB) provides financial services to 21 million retail bank households and three million small business customers through approximately 5,000 retail branches, 17 customer service centers, and 13,000 ATMs in 36 states and the District of Columbia. Consumer Lending (CL)

Wells Fargo’s Consumer Lending businesses include Home Lending, Auto, Credit Cards, Retail & Merchant Services, Personal Lending, Consumer Lending Control, and Consumer Lending Operations. Consumer Lending provides important products and services that are critical to helping our customers meet their financial needs. The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. Wealth & Investment Management (WIM)

The Consumer Data and Engagement Platform (CDEP)

The CDEP group works across the CSBB, Consumer Lending, and Wealth and Investment Management lines of business to develop coordinated strategies for growth in each of Wells Fargo's customer segments. The team is responsible for designing seamless, engaging customer experiences across products and channels, and building the next-generation digital, data and analytics, and functional capabilities required to deliver toward these objectives.

The Consumer Data Products function within CDEP aims to build a strong, centralized ecosystem to support the data needs of the consumer LOBs. This includes the build out of a common data platform (Consumer Analytics Platform, a.k.a. CAP), utilities (e.g., eligibility, transactional, etc.) and analytical capabilities to enable business priorities/use cases.

The Role

The Head of Delivery and Portfolio Management will report to the head of this function: Consumer Data Products. This leader will define and drive the user engagement strategy, including critical processes such as intake, portfolio tracking, status reporting, prioritization, and delivery, with LOB and other data users to ensure the function develops data products that meet the data needs of the lines of business (LOBs): CSBB, CL, and WIM, as well as other data users.

The Consumer Data Products function aims to build a strong, centralized ecosystem to support the data needs of the consumer LOBs. This includes the build out of a common data platform, utilities (e.g., eligibility, transactional, etc.) and analytical capabilities to enable business priorities/use cases.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Cultivate Strong Relationship with LOBs and Understand Data Needs

  • Develop a deep understanding of the data, analytics, and integration needs of all relevant data users within LOBs and other parts of the enterprise
  • Cultivate on-going relationships with various data users; Develop an End User Engagement Program to maintain ongoing conversations to discover and refine evolving user needs; Advise on CAP and other Data Utilities and Data Products roadmap
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in business data needs across LOBs and enterprise and various data users, pain points, and challenges
  • By establish an effective engagement model, build strong sponsorship of the Consumer Analytics Platform strategy and roadmap with LOB business leaders; drive strong adoption of the CAP platform and relevant data utilities with LOB business and data users
  • Establish and oversee an effective use case intake process that closely involves data users as well as the relevant Data Products / CAP teams, including Product Management, Engineering and Architecture, Data Governance, and others

Drive Use Case Delivery and Coordination

  • Establish an operating model that leads to the smooth coordination and delivery of key Use Case capabilities, including cross-LOB delivery coordination and blocker ownership and resolution
  • Work closely with LOB Data Users to identify and drive strategic business integration requirements as part of use case delivery, including trainings, material development, communication strategy, etc.
  • Establish a framework that allows individual delivery managers to work with Data Users and CAP program teams to identify metrics for success for each use case and its delivery; Develop an operating model to provide regular and effective tracking and reporting on these success metrics
  • Help LOB and other data users define change management strategy to drive Data Utilities and Data Products adoption among data users while minimizing disruption to business

Team Building

  • Collaborate and coordinate with executives and key leaders to maintain commitment to strategic objectives
  • Develop high performing senior managers and managers to stand up Data Utilities and Data Products Product Management team. Attract, sustain, and develop elite talent, build collaborative, high-performing teams, and foster a strong product culture oriented towards value delivery
  • Oversee provide expert insights into the overall Data Products Intake and Prioritization process
  • Manage individuals and managers of large team of individuals and matrixed teams focused on value implementation of data products related business initiatives and activities
  • Partner with peers in Data Products to execute and delivery a comprehensive data strategy; Partner with Delivery Management as the SMEs to Data Utilities and Data Products within Lines of Business

The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and credibility with a proven ability to influence broadly across a matrixed organization, create engagement, and drive results. This executive will be articulate and have strong interpersonal effectiveness with an impeccable reputation for integrity, accuracy, consistency, and business acumen. Key areas of experience include financial services, product management, and product leadership.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of strategic planning experience
  • 5+ years of management experience


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with leading at-scale internal and external relationship management and program delivery management organization
  • Experience with Banking, Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting data platforms and technologies, and experience addressing data related requirements of regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
  • Broad experience with Banking applications, products, technology architecture and systems integration experience in consumer and small business banking, consumer lending, and wealth and investment management
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to engage and influence senior technology and business executives
  • Experience in leading relationship management or program delivery in the following functional areas: data/technology strategy and large/ complex implementations, business technology solutions, data streaming, warehousing, architecture and systems integration, with a clear track record of building innovative, customer-facing capabilities
  • Expert level knowledge of relationship management, delivery management, and program management
  • Prior experience managing an at-scale Delivery Management organization, preferably over a long duration of increasing responsibility; Proven track record of leadership overseeing multiple managers and large teams with diverse and complex areas of accountability
  • Experience driving large scale program delivery with complex stakeholders and inter-dependencies
  • Flexible and adaptable; Able to work in ambiguous situations; Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • At-scale Financial Institution experience strongly desired; Strong understanding of all 3 Consumer LOBs (CL, CSBB, and WIM) including what drives business value
  • Broad financial expertise with knowledge of corporate affairs, financial and product fundamentals, and business policies, products, processes, systems, and roles
  • Experience creating strategic plans for enterprise wide business initiatives
  • Experience presenting to operating committee members, boards and on industry forums
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Driven, confident, organized and an accomplished problem solver
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
