  • Accounting Degree/Professional Accounting Qualification

Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Knowledge/Language

  • Proficiency in English (Spoken and Written).
  • Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Words and Power Point).
  • Knowledge in Pivot Table and V-Lookup is an advantage.
  • Asian language skills would be an advantage.

Work Experience

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must have working experience in SSC in General Accounting process area.
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Experience in and deep understanding of judgmental accounting transactions such as deferrals, revaluations, tax, etc.
  • The ability to apply this knowledge in the preparation and/or review of judgmental accounting journal entries, monthly closings, account reconciliation analysis, intercompany and other required activities.
  • Ability to apply strong accounting theory in reviewing Affiliate accounting activities for compliance with US GAAP/IFRS, Lilly policies, SOx and other requirements.
  • General business/functional knowledge.
  • Experience with SAP is a distinct advantage.
  • Process improvement and/or Six Sigma experience would be an advantage.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead a team of 4-6 associates/analysts

  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members.
  • First point of contact for team members.
  • Have regular 1:1 with team members/superior.
  • Cultivate a positive work culture where it is safe for team members to raise questions, concerns and new ideas.

Review monthly trial balance package for assigned affiliates

  • Work with local affiliate Finance organization to understand affiliate activities, review trial balance package including standard metrics, coach team to investigate trial balance account fluctuations to understand and document drivers.
  • Conduct trial balance review call with local controllers.
  • Closing co-ordinator for Financial Closing Cockpit.
  • Ensure adherence to strict month end and year end deadlines.

Accounting Quality Reviews (e.g. sample audits)

  • Perform quality reviews, root cause analysis and suggest process improvements to resolve issues.
  • Build Strong Working Relationships with controllers and accountants for assigned affiliates and with other SSC functions.

Review/Approve Account Reconciliations

  • Perform quality reviews, root cause analysis and suggest process improvements to resolve issues.
  • Build Strong Working Relationships with controllers and accountants for assigned affiliates and with other SSC functions.

Journal Voucher Processing & Review

  • Review/approve parked journal voucher to ensure accounting entry is appropriate with clear business rationale, adequate supporting documentation to support the purpose of journal voucher and source of information is clearly defined.
  • In the event of rejection, clearly communicate reason for rejecting JV request to requestor/team.
  • Identify journal vouchers to be posted when needed.

Deliver Robust SOx and Operational Controls and Compliance

  • Understand key control processes and ensure compliance of SOX Control.
  • Ensure all GA SOx and Operational Key controls are performed timely.
  • Escalate issues to management.

Troubleshooting

  • Issues escalated by team and affiliates.
  • SAP general accounting processes.
  • Research and resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Research and resolve intercompany imbalances.

Other potential responsibilities

  • Maximize SAP knowledge, keep policies and procedures updated, participate in testing of SAP and other technology enablers for GA.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control processes and corporate policies and participate in projects related to global process improvement & standardization for GA.
  • Governance of trouble tickets raised.
  • Lead governance call with affiliates.
  • Identify and measure lead indicator in metrics. Report them in a transparent and visible manner, with clearly define escalation path.

Others

  • Special project work as it is identified.
  • To participate in assigned projects.
