Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with technical support in an environment with multiple systems.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, upgrading and customizing of ECAD software. Experience with ECAD library management and maintenance.
  • Implementation experience with Cadence ECAD software - Allegro, Concept, including interfaces with PDM/PLM.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the development and delivery of the software tech stack required for management of CAD software.
  • Experience on the design side using schematic capture and PCB tools.
  • Experience with programming languages: Python, PERL, shell scripting, TCL.
  • Experience with SQL databases and version control Git, Perforce.

About the job

As an Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) Support Engineer, you will be responsible for end-user support and administration of ECAD systems used by internal hardware engineers for Schematic and PCB Designs - Cadence (Concept, Allegro). As a domain expert you will be responsible for managing and configuring ECAD tools and environments. Ensure high quality end-user support by troubleshooting and resolving user issues in a timely manner and documenting. Strong communication skills required and ability to work independently with general supervision of the Design Systems manager.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and evaluate ECAD and related system software, including license servers and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system problems. Work proactively to identify potential issues and implement preventative solutions.
  • Work closely with Cadence to drive resolution of existing issues and open new issues as needed. Develop installer packages and maintain configurations for CAD tools across all hardware teams.
  • Coordinate software releases with multi-functional teams to deliver updates/upgrades to ECAD users. Validate CAD tool upgrades and enhance the regression system by adding new test cases to improve the quality of releases.
  • Provide training for existing and new versions of CAD software to all employees. Support PCB exchange process between electrical and mechanical teams using IDF and IDX.
