About the job

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.

In this role, you will lead our Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) work for Belgium and Luxembourg, engaging with local political and regulatory experts and stakeholders and communicate about Google’s products and policies. As part of the GAPP Google Cloud team covering the Netherlands, you will address regulatory developments relevant for our Google Cloud business, including external outreach to policy makers on proposed legislation and working with trade associations and third-parties.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with Belgian policymakers, industry players and key opinion formers to support policies that will help create/maintain the open web.
  • Develop and lead public policy campaigns across the policy areas that impact Google.
  • Support sales enablement and partner with our Cloud sales teams in the Netherlands for public sector, financial services, telecoms and health verticals. Engage with internal stakeholders to help ensure that our products and services address expectations of regulatory authorities.
  • Build a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups and others to support the formation of policies that will help create/maintain a user-focused online environment and open Cloud.
  • Advise on key privacy, data governance, security, sustainability and content related issues for Google Cloud in the Netherlands, as well as on regulatory matters on important industry verticals such as public sector.
