Description
The Global Commercial Services Technology (GCST) team is responsible for implementing and supporting the technology for Commercial platforms and projects. We are seeking a Project Manager with a strong technology background to join our team. You will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating new strategic initiatives from definition through implementation (End to End delivery). This position is being filled to support a very high priority and visible project and hence provides opportunity for great experience and exposure to senior leaders. It requires tech savvy, impactful & confident communicator with exceptional project management skills and has a go getter attitude.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Working with integrated teams to deliver solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product managers, scrum masters, architects, developers, and QA teams
- Working within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and execute the technology development schedule for major product releases
- Handling and tracking status, progress and other critical metrics in relation to the plan and publishes progress reports to senior partners
- Maintaining release and dependency plans across American Express development teams, external partners and third parties
- Actively identifying, managing and raising risks, issues, and changes tied to the product development initiatives
- Applying discretion on when to raise issues versus work through issues with the team
- Resolving impediments precluding teams from making progress against plans and deadlines
- Ensuring deliverables across Technology teams are high-quality and clearly documented
- Conducting Pre and Post PI Planning sessions, daily stand-ups, scrum of scrums and retrospectives at the end of each planned unit of work, with a focus on continuously learning from the past
- Finding opportunities to embrace innovative technologies and processes
Minimum Qualifications
This high-energy Project Manager should have:
- 6+ years of IT experience with 3+ years of project/program management experience managing medium to large software development projects, with a consistent record of delivering winning product constructs
- Deep understanding of all aspects of technical delivery with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and ownership
- Experience understanding technology solutions at an enterprise-level is helpful
- Experience leading Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams delivering extraordinary technology solutions on time
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with third parties, development and product managers
- Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity, advocating for simplification, influencing teams and being able to build your own path to navigate to solutions
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and of taking pride in your delivery
- Passion to enable business capabilities through innovation
- Architect/ technical experience is a plus
- BS or MS degree in computer science or equivalent working experience is preferred
