07: Building 07 Houston TX 18050 Saturn Lane, Houston, TX, 77058 USAThe Safety/Reliability Engineer will work directly with UTAS customers, UTAS members, UTAS partners (contractors and subcontractors), suppliers and regulatory authorities. The Safety/Reliability Engineer will analyze piece parts, components, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), Orbital Replacement Units (ORUs) or Systems to determine Failures, Hazards and the associated Probabilistic Risk and/or Reliability of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE).
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Safety, Mission Assurance, Reliability and Maintainability services and products required for various vehicles including, Space Flight Vehicles (such as Extravehicular Maneuvering Unit (EMU), International Space Station (ISS), ORION, Progress, Soyuz, Commercial Crew, Gateway, Lunar Lander, Axiom, etc... through their complete life cycle (cradle to grave). This will encompass task such as developing and or reviewing Program level products as System and Subsystem Requirements Review (SRR and SSRR), Interface Definition Document (IDD), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEAs), Critical Item List (CIL), Safety Data Package (SDP), Flight Safety Certificates (906), Reflight Safety Assessments (622), Hazard Analysis, Hazards, Non Conformance Reports (NCR), Failure Investigation Analysis Reports (FIARs), Reliability Analysis, Risk Analysis, Certification Data Package (CDP), Systems Engineering Memos and Systems Engineering Analysis. The position requires the capability to identify and suggest methods for potentially eliminating, reducing or controlling Failures, Hazards and Risk.
Additionally, The Safety / Reliability Engineer will actively participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Working Groups (WG) (such as Reliability & Maintainability Working Group (RMWG), etc...), Boards (such as Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Change Control Board (CCB), Avionics Software Control Board (ASCB), Safety and Mission Assurance Control Board (SMACB), Materials Review Board (MRB), etc...) Panels (EMU Panel, Safety Review Panel (SRP), Space Station Program Control Board (SSPCB), etc.), Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR), Certification of EVA Readiness (CoER), Flight Readiness Review (FRR) and status meetings representing System Safety. Presenting to all levels of management with confidence, clarity and brevity is essential.
