Google Shopping’s mission is to connect users around the world with the products, brands, and retailers they are looking for at any stage of their shopping journey through delightful and useful experiences. Structured data that represents the intents, categories, and features that users are searching for is a critical foundation for the wide range of Shopping features that are available across Google surfaces.
As a project lead on the Shopping Linguist team, you will lead large cross-functional efforts to design new semantic representations, directly develop new graph structures and content, and run evaluations and analytics to drive growth and improvements in Shopping. You will partner with other teams at Google to manage new data structures, as well as the export of Shopping’s data into Google-wide systems like the Knowledge Graph (KR).
You will use a variety of semantic modeling techniques, judging trade-offs between formality and usability, and deciding when to reuse existing Google KRs and when to develop new ones. You will work with engineers and linguists to increase the scope of Google's semantic representations through both human and automatic methods.
Users come first at Google. Nowhere is this more important than on our Advertising and Commerce team: we believe that ads and commercial information can be highly useful to our users if that information is relevant to what our users wish to find or do. Advertisers worldwide use Google Ads to promote their products; publishers use AdSense to serve relevant ads on their website; and business around the world use our products (like Google Shopping, and Google Wallet) to support their online businesses and bring users into their offline stores.
