Job Description

Eaton is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist (1 Year Contract) to join our Milton Plant! The Engineering Support Specialist will be located in Milton, Ontario.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will work closely with both Custom Order Product Specialists and Mechanical Designers on most of the Front End Engineering processes of Low Voltage Distribution Assemblies (Panelboard, Switchboard, Switchgear, Automatic Transfer Switch-ATS & Integrated Facility System-IFS).

In this function you will:

  • Customize existing low voltage distribution assembly designs (approved/tested/released) to satisfy live customer orders.
  • Identification, approval, and implementation of product improvements to reduce cost & improve quality for Custom design.
  • Create & maintain standard drawings/modules, issuing & implementing ECN’s.
  • Maintain bills of material in ERP system, incorporating any customer changes.
  • Development of custom Made to Order (MTO) components and assemblies as required using appropriate modelling software ie. Inventor.
  • Review incoming orders for the accuracy of design and compliance to customer specifications and resolving potential discrepancies.
  • Prepare approval/construction/as built drawings.
  • Develop the necessary wiring diagrams as required.
  • Generate bills of material to satisfy order requirements.
  • Align priorities to capacity planning tool milestone dates, ensuring timely upkeep.
  • Report to the manager on work related activities on a regular basis.
  • Coordination and successful execution of assigned Engineered to Order (ETO) or Configured To Order (CTO) product orders, adhering to project timelines while effectively managing multiple and complex projects.
  • Support and participate in the implementation of corporate initiatives and attainment of department and operations goals.
  • Completing other duties/projects as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical technology.
  • Minimum of 3 years engineering experience in the manufacturing of low voltage power distribution assemblies.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC and related software, including MS Office Suite, AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • Experience using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code, and applicable CSA & UL Standards.
  • Only candidates living within a 80 km range from our Milton plant will be considered for the role.
  • Eaton does not offer sponsorship, only candidates that can legally work in Canada will be considered.

Preferred qualifications:

  • C.E.T. or P.Eng. designation an asset.
  • Competency in programming and troubleshooting PLC & HMI based systems would be an asset.
  • Understanding of design for manufacture and lean/six sigma principles. Six sigma black belt would be an asset.
