The Communications team tells the story of how DoorDash empowers local economies by connecting customers to the best of their communities. You will be a part of DoorDash's Communication + Policy team, which supports our strategy, enhances our long-term relationships with our core audiences of Dashers, Merchants, Consumers, and shareholders, inspires our candidates, and brings our mission to life.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Executive Communications professional to join our Corporate Communications team to develop integrated executive communication strategies.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, this Senior Manager, Executive Communications Lead, will lead the strategic development of our executive thought leadership and content, including the creation of integrated positioning strategies and all forms of written content for our executives. Starting with our CEO and COO, this work will extend to other senior leaders, working in collaboration with experts on the broader comms team.

You won't just develop memorable written content for our executive bench––you'll also keep a pulse on the current events, trends, and conversations we need to participate in, both in and out of Doordash. You will ensure we are most effective at promoting DoorDash's mission to empower local communities across the world. You are a senior professional with an affluent communications background in writing and journalism.

  • Fact-find and look for answers on your own, to create impactful outcomes
  • Work with senior DoorDash leaders to remain current on our strategy, growth priorities, research, and audience values and announcements
  • Create interview experts and translate complex ideas into simple, memorable, and powerful stories
  • Demonstrate experience with inclusion, diversity, and sustainability within the technology industry
  • Partner with the broader Communications & Policy teams, Marketing, Employee Communications, Investor Relations, Legal, and Strategy & Operations teams to support our OKRs and priorities across the organization
  • Research the most important topics and venues for DoorDash and our leaders to share their perspectives
  • Develop integrated strategies, tactics, and content for our executives to share our story and reach our target audiences
  • Support our CEO/Co-founder and the senior leaders as spokespeople and storytellers for DoorDash, with the goal of measurably increasing our brand's reach, influence, and impact
  • Research, develop and edit several types of materials for DoorDash's management team, including quotes, video scripts, speeches, talking points, backgrounders, narratives, op-eds, leadership pieces, and correspondence with important partners
  • Create strategic messaging that conveys DoorDash's corporate narrative to our audiences––including investors, media, policymakers, industry partners, and DoorDash's three-sided audience subset of nearly 400,000 merchants, 2 million Dashers, and consumers spread across 4,000 cities in the US, Canada, and Australia

  • You have 10 years or more of experience in communications, PR, or journalism with impeccable writing, and storytelling capabilities
  • Be an outstanding writer that captures the voice, vision, and priorities of the CEO and C-suite on multiple topics
  • Have an integrated mindset, with an understanding of the media landscape, cultural narratives, multi-faceted campaign planning, and tactical execution
  • You have a command of business and corporate communications, with experience in integrated communications, including in-depth knowledge of earned, paid, owned, and shared media
  • You have experience analyzing and communicating complex information, and developing compelling external messages
  • You have exceptional writing, editing, and speaking skills – and the ability to produce compelling content for our audiences to achieve OKRs
  • You are organized and are comfortable leading management and C-suite level executives through media training and preparation in addition to intense attention to detail
  • You are a creative professional who understands latest technologies, communication best practices and has a passion for exploring new methods of communicating
  • You have experience flourishing in fast-paced environments
  • You have experience conceiving, writing, and coordinating executive, and particularly CEO content, including quotes, video scripts, speeches, talking points, backgrounders, narratives, and op-eds and thought leadership pieces, as well as correspondence with important partners and other written materials
  • You love to work independently
  • You take your work, but not yourself, seriously—and maintain a good sense of humor about both!
