As the Chief of Staff to our COO, you will be at the centre of Monzo. You will work with our leadership team to deliver critical projects and own strategic initiatives. As Chief of Staff, you will get visibility across the company and the broader world of investors, government, the financial sector and our user community that our executive team engages with. Our COO leads a team of 1000+ representing >70% of the organisation, and has direct responsibility for Marketing & PR, Operations, and People (including our people experience and space functions). The COO is the SMF24 for the bank and works across the executive team to lead key strategic projects and ensure the company can set and achieve ambitious goals.

The role:

You will be responsible for:

  • Helping formulate strategic projects and executing against them.
  • Managing key processes for the company (such as headcount approval and budget management).
  • Staying close to data on our performance, understanding the underlying drivers, creating a regular cadence for reporting, and identifying and leading key strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborating with people across the company to drive impact and help unblock complex challenges.
  • Conceiving and executing team engagement initiatives.
  • Ensuring that the COO is well prepared for meetings and interactions with regulators, investors, journalists, board members, and employee forums.
  • Preparing and disseminating major communications.
  • Representing the COO to the organisation and in key forums.

You should apply if you are:

  • Someone who has a track record of driving outcomes in environments where influence and consensus building are critical.
  • Experienced in the tech sector or in working in a regulated environment (ideally financial services).
  • Passionate about building and enabling diverse, inclusive and high performing teams.
  • Highly analytical and quantitative - you should be comfortable with spreadsheets, looker, and other analytics tools.
  • A problem solver who has demonstrated that you can take initiative to drive high impact for customers, employees, or shareholders.
  • Great at stakeholder management and able to thoughtfully and constructively challenge the people you work with.
  • Experienced with budget management and comfortable with reading financial statements.
  • A curious, skilled multi-tasker who enjoys context switching and can balance depth and breadth.
  • Organised, detail oriented and thorough.
  • A strong project manager, always seeking to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • An excellent communicator.
