The Global Consumer Services Technologies (GCST) team is accountable for implementing and supporting systems for global Consumer and Commercial Card businesses. We are seeking leaders with a strong technology background to join our team. You will lead the planning, directing, and coordinating large-scale strategic new product launches from definition through implementation.

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Leading teams to deliver solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product managers, scrum masters, architects, developers, and QA teams
  • Working within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and execute the Technology development schedule for major product releases
  • Handling and tracking status, progress and other critical metrics in relation to the plan and publishes progress reports
  • Assigning development resources to activities and monitoring progress and performance across resource channels
  • Maintaining release and dependency plans across American Express development teams, external partners and third parties
  • Actively identifying and raising risks, issues, and changes tied to the product development initiatives
  • Applying discretion on when to raise issues versus work through issues with the team
  • Resolving impediments precluding teams from making progress against plans
  • Ensuring outcomes across Technology teams are high-quality and clearly documented
  • Conducting daily stand-ups, scrum of scrums and retrospectives at the end of each planned unit of work, with a focus on continuously learning from the past
  • Finding opportunities to embrace innovative technologies and processes
Minimum Qualifications

This high-energy Technical Project Manager should have:

  • 10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years of project/program management experience managing medium to large software development projects, with a consistent record of achieving positive outcomes
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of product delivery with a consistent record of growing responsibility and ownership
  • Experience navigating across product and engineering teams to create reusable solutions
  • Experience leading Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams delivering outstanding technology solutions on time
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and an ability to optimally communicate and partner with third parties, development and product managers
  • Experience in clarifying objectives, taking care of ambiguity, advocating for simplification, influencing teams and being able to build your own path to navigate to solutions
  • Ability to learn new technologies and of taking pride in your delivery
  • Desire to achieve business capabilities through innovation
  • BS or MS degree in computer science or equivalent working experience is preferred
  • PMI or equivalent project management certification is desired
  • Scrum Master certification is a plus
  • Certification(s) in Scaled Agile Framework is a plus
