About the role

We are recruiting for an DevOps Engineer within an award-winning Data & Analytics team, with focus on Augmented Drug Design to be based at our Cambridge site.

As the DevOps engineer you will support solution development, provide technical leadership, and take ownership for delivery. You are a T-shaped engineer, a person with a broad range of knowledge and experience across data & analytics, with significant depth in at least one technical area. You will predominately work on our AWS and Kubernetes based platform.

This role is within the 'Augmented Drug Design' platform which is a dynamic team, passionate about using Data, AI and large scale compute across drug discovery. It has a full DevOps approach with test automation, CI/CD and is built on K8s/AWS with innovation as a key driver, both in enabling science and building better IT systems.

The role would work alongside science teams who are using AI/ML techniques such as Deep Learning to tackle complex drug discovery challenges. You would join a team mid-flight in optimally delivering business value which has made an impact on AZ drug discovery projects.

You would work across the wide range of IT capabilities within the platform but also tackle expertise and lead in one or more areas. Key for this role is the knowledge of both Development and Operations and be comfortable switching priorities dependent on the operational estate.

Essential Experience & Skills

• You will have delivery experience across key elements of the data & analytics domain,
• You will need great interpersonal skills & a collaborative approach to delivery,
• You will be able to demonstrate an ability to understand business needs and translate them into a solution,
• You must have strong analytical and data manipulation ability,
• You will have experience of technical leadership in data and analytics.

Desirable technical skills & experience

• AWS or other cloud experience: Azure, GCP
• AWS CDK, CloudFormation or similar infrastructure as code
• Datastores: S3, Postgres, ElasticSearch
• Kubernetes: all aspects of deployment and administration, e.g. HELM
• DevOps way of working and tooling e.g. Jenkins, GitHub
• Docker/containers
• Life science: chem/bioinformatics
• Lab instrument data
• One or more coding language: Node.js, Java or Python preferred
