Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.

The Loan Documentation Specialist 5 role is a team lead position responsible for assisting the manager with work direction and pipeline priority. The role is with the Pre-CEMA team and they are responsible for critical review of collateral mortgage documentation and decisioning to determine CEMA eligibility for New York refinance transactions with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. This role will also have responsibility for COOP loans and understanding the process specific to New Jersey. The successful candidate review process is to ensure compliance with all WFHM, NY, NJ and investor policy guidelines. This position operates in an analyst fashion with review of underlying collateral mortgage documentation to ensure standards are met with the consolidation of mortgages into current refinance transaction.

Responsible for performing loan documentation duties on the most complex loan packages to ensure compliance with Company policies and government regulations. Performs duties related to the processing and/or closing of loans. Main point of contact for internal or external customer during the loan process. Manages an assigned pipeline of all loan types relative to business line. Negotiates and determines viable solutions to make deals work while balancing high credit quality OR Provides work direction to a team of Loan Documentation Specialists, ensuring units work is completed on time and accurately by planning, coordinating and monitoring daily activities. Acts as an escalation point for specialists to resolve issues and provide training. May act as a liaison between lenders and legal department.

IMPORTANT: Required location for this position is 2650 Wells Fargo Way in Minneapolis. Candidate must reside within a reasonable commute to this location but will have to work from this office.


Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: customer service, loan administration, collections, or sales environment demonstrated through work or military experience
  • 1+ year of mortgage industry experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of traditional fulfillment functions such as processing, underwriting, and closing
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to provide leadership by coaching, training, and mentoring
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Reporting experience, analytics experience or a combination of both
  • Experience managing a pipeline of work from assignment to completion


Other Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of or Experience working with NY CEMA loans
- Knowledge of or Experience working with COOP Loans


Job Expectations

  • This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo's compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.
