Global Employment Counsel
Key Role:
Provide primarily employment law support to internal clients with a focus on the international space as a member of the firm’s legal department. Maintain responsibility for providing management, human resources, recruiting, immigration, and other professionals with business-oriented legal counsel on all aspects of employment advice, including compliance with Booz Allen global policies, local employment laws regarding employment contracts, hiring, benefits, compensation, work hours, anti-discrimination, leaves of absence, non-compete agreements, internal investigations, performance management issues, separation issues, and all other day-to-day employment matters and counsel the firm on enterprise-wide regulatory issues and corporate policy implications. Work on international and cross-border issues primarily arising in the UK, EU, Middle East, and East Asia, including employment agreements, policies, global mobility agreements and programs, and cross-border employee investigation matters. Manage outside counsel to receive jurisdiction-specific employment law advice and oversee litigation matters and mediations. Represent the firm before relevant agencies in audits and administrative charges, including preparing position statements, as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications:
-8+ years of experience as an attorney advising private commercial organizations on employment law
-Experience with working in a corporate legal environment or law firm
-Experience with collaborating in a team environment
-Ability to serve as a business partner to corporate leaders and build consensus on complex law and business issues while viewing legal issues through a business lens
-Ability to work in the United Kingdom or the Netherlands
-JD degree
-Qualified solicitor, barrister, or attorney qualified in any part of the UK, any US jurisdiction, or any EU Jurisdiction with the ability to practice in the work location
Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with international employment matters, including drafting employment agreements and cross-border separation agreements
-Experience with establishing business operations in new jurisdictions or operating internationally as a commercial organization, including handling global mobility and immigration matters, international corporate governance, corporate tax, or international contractual issues
-Experience with advising a US federal government contractor on international employment issues preferred
-Ability to learn continuously and stay abreast of relevant legal developments
-Ability to show an interest in foreign affairs or international legal issues
-Ability to communicate with multinational teams operating in multiple time zones effectively
-Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Possession of excellent client relation and team orientation skills
