Providence is calling a Environmental Safety Program Manager (Safety and Environment of Care, Days , 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: Develop policies and procedures, and then implements programs that facilitate compliance with all regulatory agencies and local and state codesUndertakes needed research on current and proposed changes to laws and regulations affecting the assigned programs. Creates, maintains, and ensures compliance with Hazardous Material, Waste Management, and other safety program documents. If an incident of noncompliance occurs, develops a corrective action plan and monitors its implementation. Assists the Plan Managers in developing plan goals, objectives, and metrics. Evaluates the program and training effectiveness by performing regular interviews and environmental rounds of employees to assess their understanding of PAMC compliance policies. Collaborates with PAMC Leadership to identify, develop, and implement program improvements that advance the goals and objectives of the program.
  • COMPLIANCE: Maintain and guide the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations assuring adequate preparation for, and participating in regulatory compliance surveys. Responsible for the design and development of programs and processes that supports PAMCs emergency preparedness planning activities to ensure compliance with all emergency regulatory standards
  • DATA MANAGEMENT: Establish mechanisms to collect, review, and track data required by local, state, and federal entities which are consistent with PAMC policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation of programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, TJC, EPA, DOT, and other applicable agenices or organizations. Maintains the Safety Department intranet site and Contractor internet site.
  • LEADERSHIP: Work with PAMC Senior Leadership, managers, and staff on a consultative basis to provide training and guidance in hazardous materials, waste management, and contractor compliance. Acts as Chair for Hazardous Materials / Waste Management and Safety Coordinators committees; assists in managing department safety coordinators in the performance of these duties. Facilitates and coordinates educational activities related to Safety, Hazardous Materials, Waste Management, and Safety Coordinator programs. Utilizes appropriate tools and techniques to facilitate teamwork and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • GENERAL: Has a working knowledge of TJC, NFPA, NEC, OSHA and other codes and standards relating to the Environment of Care and the regulation of hazardous materials and waste. Takes a proactive position to ensure that all unsafe conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.
  • Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health related field, Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health & Medicine.
  • HAZWOPER certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Must keep HAZWOPER certification current through annual recertification.
  • Certification in one or more of the following required or obtained within one year of hire: Associate Emergency Manager (AEM), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), FEMA-Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP), IBCSM-Certified Health Emergency Healthcare Professional CHEP.
  • One (1) year experience in a healthcare related field, which includes Environment of Care, safety, and/or regulatory compliance.
  • Three (3) years experience in emergency management
  • Familiar and experienced with rules, regulation and laws pertaining to healthcare compliance.
  • Prior experience in program coordination.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience in Occupational Health & Safety.
