Ever wondered how banks support corporations in their day to day activities, and help them set the foundation for their long-term success? Would you like to get a glimpse of what it is like to work in a fast-paced international environment, where every day is different, and regularly interact with individuals from around the globe? We provide financing to large global and local companies, as well as property developers of homes and commercial buildings, to enable their businesses to operate and grow. Wells Fargo’s Summer Internship Experience is designed to help you learn more about what we do and the banking sector by getting involved in real life value adding projects. This is a 10 week virtual experience, and you will be paid for your participation. (During Covid-19 office visits can be arranged providing it is permitted by government lockdown guidelines and Wells Fargo health & safety procedures.)
We will provide you with various learning opportunities and support throughout your time with us. On joining, a buddy – graduate young professional on our team – will help guide you through the transition from classroom to a professional workplace. Learning is on the job from experts in your team, as well as specifically designed courses providing the technical and general business skills needed to be successful. You will have the opportunity to meet senior leaders and other experts across the company to start building your professional network.

Primary areas of responsibility

While the primary focus of a bank is to serve clients’ needs, there is a heavy focus on making sure we adhere to laws and rules and high standards; in other words that clients are treated fairly and that the company operates well in financial markets. This Summer Internship Experience is with the compliance function and the Chief Operating Office. The compliance team assists many departments across the bank in making sure it minimises the risk of legal or regulatory sanctions, financial loss or bad reputation as a result of failure to comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. The Chief Operating Office oversees the running of the whole bank; making sure that day to day activities are organised effectively and run efficiently to meet these standards.
During your 10 weeks, you will work alongside and learn from the Compliance and Chief Operating Office teams; develop an understanding, knowledge and awareness of the regulatory and organisational landscape, and gain experience in an area whose profile and impact has never been

Market Skills and Certifications

You must:

• Have the relevant rights to work in Ireland
• Be available to work full time throughout Mon 21^st June – Fri 27^th August 2021
• Be curious about how a bank is organised and the methods applied to ensure high standards are met

The ideal candidate would be (but not essential):

• In full time education at school, college or university in Ireland
• Want to achieve high quality results consistently
• Able to work productively and with good judgement especially when without direct supervision
• Able to speak and write to individuals or groups from a wide variety of backgrounds
