Mechanical Artist

Job Description

The Mechanical Artist is responsible for executing specific design specifications and creates production mechanical files for international product packaging in addition to providing pre-press support. They support end-to-end International artwork development for assigned brands and special projects. Implements design specifications including height, length, weight, color, texture, and finishes to send to vendor/manufacturer for samples and prototypes.

Specifically, this position will:
• Create print-ready mechanicals for all international product packaging
• Review supplied assets, evaluate and understand/clarify content details (i.e. art, copy, codes, specifications, etc.)
• Route and update mechanicals as necessary to adhere to all Legal, Regulatory, Packaging and Language requirements
• Proofread all work prior to submitting to Manager and Senior Mechanical for review
• Implement change management file/mechanical requests
• Input changes received from mechanical routing
• Prepare and release approved mechanical files and corresponding images to vendors within three business days of US mechanical release
• Maintain organization of production server

• 3-5 years of mechanical, technical or production design experience
• Must understand print production, pre-press and appropriate file set up
• MAC proficient; Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Illustrator
• Foreign language skills (French/Spanish/Arabic/Mandarin) a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
• Ability to manage and prioritize own projects/workload
• Team player with ability to work in a highly collaborate design environment
• Demonstrate curiosity and desire to learn
• Be an effective listener
• Flexibility in dealing with and adapting to change
