As a BI Engineer, you will be responsible for administering enterprise level reporting solutions, such as Tableau, that deliver the needs of our technology and business partners. You will operate as a primary developer and administrator of Tableau, one of the operational reporting solutions at Splunk. Additionally, this position will influence the architecture of different reporting solutions including Splunk and other application based reporting tools.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that:

  • Responsible for engaging product owners and business stakeholders to gather requirements and use agile methodology to deliver Tableau dashboards
  • Act as an Coach/Mentor for other Enterprise BI developers and influence Visualization best practices.
  • Build Business Intelligence related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Work with business units to define requirements, use various data sources to develop and release Tableau workbooks that suits business analytics needs.
  • Assist in developing creative methodologies, procedures, user adoption strategies, develop and design innovative ways to view and interact with data visualization for Business Analysis.
  • Conduct group and individual, in-person and remote Tableau training sessions for staff members.
  • Conduct unit tests and develop database queries to analyze the effects and fix any issues that arise.
  • Demonstrated ability to think beyond raw data and to understand the underlying business context and sense business opportunities hidden in data

Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that:

  • 8+ years of experience in Cloud data warehouse/data lake and Tableau business intelligence projects, preferably related to sales or marketing analytics or in the financial services domain.
  • 5+ years of experience developing advanced data visualization and presentations with Tableau.
  • Experience analyzing complex dataset using SQL to develop and automate reports or analysis that lead to actionable business insights .
  • Solid experience with relational databases (Snowflake, Redshift) optimizing SQL to pull and summarize large datasets, report creation and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Solid exposure and ability to drive automation of new and existing processes.
  • Experience with business intelligence analytic and data wrangling tools such as Alteryx, R, or Python is highly desired.
  • Familiar with utilization of source code repository(GitHub) and Tableau APIs
  • Knowledge of the configuration of monitoring solutions and the creation of dashboards (Splunk)

Education: Got it!

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field
