The Opportunity

To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, process oriented, and collaborative People Operations Manager to take ownership of operational excellence across HR systems / processes and our employee lifecycle. Areas of ownership will include compliance; policies & benefits administration; data reporting and analysis; streamlining manual processes and optimizing systems; people & talent metrics tracking; and immigration. You will report to the Director of People and work closely with the People Generalist to deliver an employee experience that “wows.” You will also partner seamlessly across functional lines with Legal, Compliance, Payroll/Accounting, Facilities, and IT to spot & solve issues and build out processes and policies that scale. This is a specialized, hand-on yet strategic role with a lot of room for ownership.

This role can be based anywhere in the U.S.

Your day-to-day

  • Own HR compliance, including audits and filings related to EEO-1 reporting, benefits, and 401(k) administration / audits, with the support of our benefits broker, Sequoia, and other external partners.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and keep our policies up to date with employment law updates, regulatory changes, and state requirements in an expanding set of states (we have embraced remote work).
  • Partner with stakeholders across People Ops, IT, Facilities, Payroll/Accounting, and Legal/Compliance to identify opportunities for improvement in preparation for growth, across policies, process, vendors, and our tech stack.
  • Drive implementation of improvements through change management and project management across internal stakeholders, vendors, and internal processes.
  • Manage leaves of absence and serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for leave administration.
  • Partner with Payroll/Accounting and Legal to provide data and updates for the Board and Compensation Committee.
  • Build upon existing documentation and internal enablement to support cross-training and a solid internal People Operations knowledge base.
  • Partner with the Director of People to build and maintain people & talent health metrics tracking (turnover, diversity, etc.)
  • Shepherd active immigration cases, liaising with our immigration attorneys, the employee, and the hiring manager
  • As a member of the People team, uphold and promote Mosaic’s values and leadership principles; handle sensitive employee relations issues as needed; and support employee engagement initiatives

What you bring to the team

  • 5+ years of experience in HR compliance and operations (policies & benefits, data, process oriented roles)
  • Analytical mindset and technical aptitude for implementing and administering various tools and systems
  • Experience working in fast paced environments at varied sizes/stages (you have startup hustle and can also think around corners to the next stage of growth)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance (including CA)
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence to build alignment and strong relationships with employees and internal and external stakeholders
  • High integrity and maturity to handle confidential information and sensitive situations in a way that builds trust
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

Bonus Points

  • Experience scaling HR operations at a small to mid-sized start-up in a growth stage
  • Experience with ADP
