Position Description:

The West Point, PA campus is our Company’s largest vaccine manufacturing facility with more than 2000 employees. This facility manufactures bulk and/or final dosage forms for all our vaccine products and is growing to meet the vaccine demands of the future.

The Live Virus Vaccine Filling Facility Project team in West Point is seeking two first shift Operations Managers to lead the start-up of a new vaccine filling & lyophilization facility. Facility start-up will include design, commissioning, equipment qualification and live virus vaccine drug product process demonstration in support of facility licensure.

As an Operations Manager you will be in a critical position to the organization with direct impact on our Company vision to make a difference in the lives of people globally. In this role you will be a Leader in the production areas that drives the execution of production objectives, while creating an inclusive culture that energizes a Safety First, Quality Always, with a continuous improvement mindset. You will also have the ability to direct, coordinate, and counsel cross-functional partnership with Quality, Technical Services, Planning, Global Functions and other areas to assure optimal quality and quantity of finished products.

A successful Operations Manager will be an energetic leader with strong collaboration skills accountable for partnering with multiple functions to execute facility design, construction, start-up and operational readiness. Off-shift and weekend coverage will be required based on business unit needs and specific assignments.

Accountability

  • First line operations supervisor with a team of hourly Union individual contributor production direct reports
  • Ensure that Shift(s) objectives are achieved while reliably supplying quality product at a competitive cost consistent with our Company, Regulatory Agency, and State and Local code requirements for quality, good manufacturing practices (GMP), equal employment opportunity, finance, labor, employee, environment and safety, not in that order
  • Tactical and strategic Shift(s) management, including collaboration with indirect staff
  • Promote the behaviors and principles that drive continuous improvement

Duties

  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of direct reports
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from Operations Associate Director and Director
  • Applies supervisory skills to improve efficiency and accomplish operational objectives within own unit

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or other related technical field of study

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a functional area, such as Operations, Management, Quality, Technical Operations, Technology, Engineering, Maintenance, and/or Supply Chain
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and time management skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of two (2) years in relevant manufacturing or processing (aseptic/sterile, bulk, solid oral dosage, packaging, etc.)
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a heavily regulated industry (example: FDA, military, nuclear, and petro-chemical)
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Facility start-up experience
