Data Quality Engineer, Video Analytics

Job Description

Our platform has robust analytics tools that can tell video creators where people are from, where they click, and even track where in a video someone stopped watching—giving you insight into creating engaging content in the future.

As a Data QA Engineer on the Video Analytics team, you will help ensure that all video content, and accompanying components, distributed on Vimeo video platform meets Vimeo’s high-quality standards to provide the best possible analytics experience to our customers. As a Data QA Engineer, you will play a central role in making data-driven decisions to improve processes, delivery methods and automation across our video pipeline. You will be taking a hands-on approach to ensuring our data projects are driven to completion. You will be required to understand the inner-workings of our process and propose solutions to achieve operational efficiency without substituting quality.

• Rapidly prototype, build and deploy production level analytical models to monitor critical datasets via streaming or batch processes
• Understanding business requirements and translating them into actionable specifications while owning key data quality KPIs and end-to-end data lifecycle including how data should be tracked and measured for analysis, reporting and data quality assurance
• Perform cross-system data investigations and analysis to discover data inconsistencies, outlining path to remediation for development teams
• Understand the systems and business processes that populate critical systems with data. Become the SME and support engineering teams tasked with ingestion of this data
• Work with stakeholders to outline and define data definitions and apply appropriate usage
• Perform data audits, identify data collection issues, suggest improvements, and help implement fixes. Work as a lead data steward hand-in-hand with the managers of the operating systems to convey the data quality needs
• Work with our community support group to investigate data quality issues reported by our customers.
• Document and implement data quality policies, standards, and procedures for both legacy and new data environments

• 4+ years of analytical experience with a M.Sc/B.Sc in a relevant quantitative discipline.
• 2+ years of SQL and Python experience
• High familiarity with security controls for cloud automation and configuration tooling (e.g. Jenkins) and data platforms and applications such as Jupyter, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, Docker, GitHub, Great Expectations
• Strong experience in documenting the data requirements, data strategy, data rules (standardization, cleanse, and validation)
• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple projects in a dynamic environment
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and written communication skills

• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, HBase/Cassandra, Phoenix)
• Cloud Provider experience (AWS tools, Google Cloud tools, Azure tools)
