What is the opportunity?

The Commodity Operations group under RBC Capital Markets is looking to hire a Trade Support Analyst to join its Toronto Office. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate daily processing of all commodities OTC and Exchange Traded derivatives and physical transactions to facilitate profitable trading and efficient interaction between Front Office Trading and Operations group. This will be a full time position with initial 3-month probationary period.

What will you do?

  • Perform trade validation for all Commodities derivatives and physical trades booked into the Openlink booking system. Identify trade capture errors, monitor results & exceptions, analyze underlying causes and ensure appropriate, corrective action are taken to reduce the frequency of occurrence and minimize loss due to error.
  • Collaborate with external counterparties, refiners and warehouses both domestically and internationally. Manage all logistics processes relating to the physical metal/commodities and transportation.
  • Ensure successful Intraday/EOD processes within strict timelines throughout the day to mitigate any detrimental impact on downstream feeds and reports.
  • Perform daily checks for Dodd Frank / EMIR / CSA reporting. Escalate issues to the relevant IT support groups and follow up until resolution is achieved.
  • Prepare and monitor FO Supervisory Reports for stakeholders as required. Analyze and provide commentary to FO supervisors for Large PnL impact on the Daily Cancelled & Amended Trades.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to further streamline processes. Recommend cost efficient and effective controls for Commodity trade processing with the introduction of new processes, products and systems. Initiate and implement recommendations for automation.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • High degree of accuracy
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work effectively and reliably under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Nice-to-have

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of VBA and SQL
  • Experience in Capital Markets Operation or Technology positions combined with strong understanding of risk concepts and risk management practices
  • Experience in Openlink system
  • Relevant industry experience with an emphasis on Electricity, Carbon, Oil, Gas, Precious and Base Metals markets
