Market Job Description
The Compliance team is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining risk standards and programs to drive compliance with regulatory and/or Corporate Policy requirements. As part of the Independent Risk Management function, Compliance oversees the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive, robust regulatory change management program to cover all lines of business operating in Canada Region
- Support the Regulatory Change Management team in ensuring all identified regulatory changes are monitored, reviewed, tracked and actioned appropriately for all lines of business, and ensure timely communication to all relevant stakeholders
- Facilitate an up-to-date inventory of legislative and regulatory requirements for all applicable business activities and operations, in order to drive the development and implementation of an appropriate system of controls, policies and procedures
- Execute on the regulatory change management governance structure and process in Canada Region
- Work closely with lines of business as part of the ongoing regulatory change management process, providing guidance and support as needed
- Coordinate and consult with peers, Law Department, COO, Internal Audit and other Risk and functions partners whenever necessary
- Participate in project teams and provide guidance to team members within Canada Risk whenever necessary
- Supports the oversight and/or monitoring of a risk-based compliance program.
- Provides compliance risk insight and supports projects and initiatives with low to moderate risk for a business line or functional area.
- Works with a business unit, a defined set of rules and regulations on risk compliance matters.
- Supports the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management.
- May provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change.
- Provides support in reporting findings and drafting recommendations to management.
- Supports and implements initiatives with low to moderate risk.
- Internal interaction with team to support risk oversight and monitoring.
Market Skills and Certifications
Minimum qualifications:
- 2+ years of direct experience in risk (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management demonstrated through work or military) or 1+ year in the foregoing or financial services industry and a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field.
- Good understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and processes and demonstrated understanding of risk management policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Canada banking/financial institution Acts/regulations/guidelines.
- Ability to multi-task between multiple and ongoing responsibilities and assignments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead and motivate others.
- Ability to meet deliverables and priorities in tight timeframes.
- Exhibits flexibility and adaptability and able to navigate a large, complex organization.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles.
Preferred skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skill.
- Able to master well with Excel and PowerPoint presentation.
