Job Description
The purpose of this job is to plan and deliver on a range of Wet petfood product and/or process development & implementation projects in line with the MARS growth and cost optimization strategies, and Quality & Food Safety standards. The role will be based in Verden (Bremen, Germany).
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Execute and deliver on a range of product/process development & implementation projects that will lead to continuous improvement in product design and performance
- Execute and deliver on projects designed to optimize business costs, while adhering to agreed standards of Quality and Food safety
- Manage local wet petfood product and/or process recipes and specifications in line with central product design principles and standards
- Support technical risk assessments on changes to raw materials, recipes, products and processes and ensure that all risks are effectively managed
- Manage the implementation of new raw materials on site according to internal standards using relevant system tools
- Contribute to the definition of minimum standards and critical success factors as part of the Handover 1 and 2 processes for defined product/process implementation projects in collaboration with other site R&D team members, central R&D, and local cross-functional teams
- Collate and manage product and process data, including Analytical Testing Programme data, ensuring that that our products conform to standards, and that exceptions are effectively escalated and managed
- Work on Level 2 trouble-shooting activities in partnership with other functions to ensure the successful resolution of product/process issues
- Contribute to ad-hoc Product Related Incident Management Process teams as required
- Input into local and central project management teams, providing risk assessment and technical support as required
- Actively participate in regional product/process communities to promote the effective sharing of knowledge and experience across the MARS network and central teams
What are we looking for?
- Degree level qualification in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (Food Science/Technology, Biological, Chemical, Engineering sciences)
- Recognised professional qualification in a relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience in an FMCG environment (minimum 3 years)
- Experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment
- Experience in scoping and managing projects in an FMCG environment
- Experience in experimental design and execution
- Direct experience of food product design and food manufacturing processes
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to work as part of an effective team
- Knowledge of food raw material functionality
- Fluent in English and German
