The mission of the Cvent data science team is to enhance Cvent’s software products and enable the company to make data-informed decisions at all levels, using data mining, augmented intelligence and a solid understanding of the business. You will be part of a fast-growing team, strongly committed to impacting the company via industry-leading data science.

What you will do:

  • Work with a talented team of data scientists, software developers and product owners to uncover opportunities for data-driven product enhancement
  • Research and identify tools and technologies that are applicable in Cvent's problem domains
  • Understand the basic economic drivers of Cvent's business, and put data science projects in perspective of overall impact to the company
  • Apply Machine Learning (ML) on numeric and text data
  • Take initiative to innovate and develops solutions with minimal supervision
  • Mentor junior team members on conceptual and technical aspects of data science
  • Communicate regularly with software and business stakeholders to educate them and drive the adoption of data mining and ML driven approaches
  • Continuously learn about Cvent's product lines and their business models
  • Take responsibility to deliver ML models that can be integrated into Cvent products

Basic qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (natural sciences, math, stats, CS/ML)
  • At least 2 years of industry experience in hands-on data science
  • Proven ability to translate a business problem into a data problem, solve it using data, and translate the solution into a business recommendation, product feature etc
  • Deep conceptual and technical understanding of ML methodology
  • Python programing and ML stacks in Python
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Knowledge of linear algebra and statistics
  • Data interpretation skills: ability to look at a data distribution and identify its main features
  • Experience in designing, implementing and interpreting A/B tests
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and project documentation experience

Advanced qualifications:

  • PhD in a quantitative, data intensive field
  • Experience working on cloud platform (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud), especially developing machine learning driven solutions on a cloud platform
  • Ability to write production-quality Python code with line-by-line testing
  • Deep familiarity with Spark and SparkML
  • Experience using JIRA and Git/BitBucket
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology, eg, Scrum and Kanban processes
  • Experience in data product development, including defining, measuring and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Data visualization in Python and/or Tableau
